Congratulations to Kinsale Philip who saw his first game action for the University of Toronto on Saturday the Varsity Blues final game of the season. Kinsale spent much of the season working his way back from a foot injury suffered last season and managed to finish the season strong. Good luck with your studies Kinsale!

Another successful Tailgate Auction sponsored by River Market at Westminster Quay is in the books. Last Saturday evening nearly 130 guests and sponsors helped us reach our fundraising goal for the NWSS Hyack Football program (with a portion of proceeds going to the Royal City Hyack Football Club).
There were plenty of enjoyable moments throughout the evening, beginning with the pre-auction reception sponsored by Pacific Breeze Winery and Steel & Oak Brewing Co. We welcomed our longtime team sponsors, The Record, G&F Financial Group, Key West Ford, Team Dave Vallee, Tim Hill and many others. Their support on and off the field have helped make our High School and Community football programs stand out for all the right reasons. Marcel Pytlewski (from Cassady Law) , scored the winning bid for the grand prize Hawaiian Vacation, donated by Live Auction sponsor Westland Insurance and WI director Brent Atkinson, a long-time friend and supporter of the Hyacks.
Tim Hill won the Mick McLellan Coal Harbour Cruise, while Vishaan Narayan edged out fellow varsity player Owen Stark in an intense arm wrestling competition.
Thanks to our auction committee, led by Pam Dixon, for making this event another huge success. If you want to get in on the fun of organizing next year's 18th annual Hyack Football Tailgate Auction, email Pamela Dixon. A number of our volunteers are 'graduating' and they want to pass the torch to new Hyack Football parents.

The Hyacks will play their lone afternoon game of the season on Friday, as they take on Belmont Secondary at 2pm at Mercer Stadium. Due to the province-wide Professional Day, admission will be free for all!
The Hyacks will come into this game following their first regular season loss of the year, falling to Vancouver College last Saturday. The Hyacks defense was exceptional in the first half of the game. Despite the loss, a pair of grade 11s turned in outstanding performances: Defensive back, Deakon Young, played his best game as a Hyack with 11 tackles (including 3 for loss) along with 2 QB sacks. Defensive lineman Vishaan Narayan added 6 tackles (one for loss).
The Hyacks are now 4-1 in league play (5-2 overall) and are ranked 3rd in BC.

Terry Fox will provide the opposition on Thursday as the JVs return to the friendly confines of Mercer Stadium. Like the Varsity, the JVs return home following a loss at Vancouver College on Saturday. Lucas Steele, Matthew Duncan and Jacob MacCumber were among those who stood out, while Austin Tustin also battled hard.

Congratulations to the JBs for winning their first game of the season, 18-0 against South Delta. Kalani Pedrosa scored all 3 TDs for the Hyacks, 2 on the ground and one on a fumble return. The defense was led by Benicio Hageleit, Ilya Scow and Jack Turner as they managed to hold the opposing offense to two first downs. Jack Kannt, Cormac Knudsen, Tristan Bergeron and Dennis Hackman were standouts along the offensive line.

The pee wees continued to work their way towards a playoff spot with a 43-12 win over North Surrey on Sunday. Ajay Meltzer scored 3 TDs and rushed for over 200 yards, while Nathan Hillmann scored 2 TDs and Lukas Lalji added one. Alex Jasper, Guido Catania and Mateo McDonnell had strong games defensively
Our Orange and Black teams faced each other on Sunday. While Team Black won 18-0, it was a great game for both teams. Team Orange had great effort from QB Kobe Marasigan and Vincent McCarthy on defense. Team Black got 2 TDs from Mason Smith and 1 by Koen Panesar. It was Archer Helme's first game back after injury and he was force on defense.
