Many of you have been patiently waiting for the CERT training to be reactivated after closures due to Covid19. Unfortunately, we are still not able to hold in-person trainings; however, we will be launching our hybrid CERT training in September. The hybrid training program will combine online independent course study, facilitated zoom discussions, and conclude with an in-person skills session. We are excited to be able to offer this program and continue our preparedness work.
If you are interested in taking the hybrid CERT training program, you will be REQUIRED to attend a zoom welcome session on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 7 pm. After that, the online course work will continue at your own pace and optional weekly zoom sessions with CERT Program Manager Jake Heflin and Program Coordinator Ana Jimenez will be available to support you along the way.
*How long does the online CERT training program take?
The online independent study program is roughly 16 hours total. Each module takes anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour and a half.
*What do I need to take the online CERT training program?
The online program requires registration, which means you will need an individual email address at a minimum. In addition, you will need a computer with speakers and internet service.
*When will Long Beach CERT be holding in-person training classes?
At this time, there is no timeframe for when we will resume in person-training courses. We are happy to be able to offer the online program as an alternative until we get back into the classroom!
Is the in-person skills day required?
Yes, the skills day is a requirement to fulfill the CERT training program and receive your certificate of completion. The skills day will allow Long Beach CERT program managers to assess the skills learned via online study.
