Hybrid Worship
February 20, 2022
Welcome to Worship! Whether you're joining by Zoom or in person, it's good to be together.

Even as we relish the season of Epiphany, we look ahead to Lent and Easter. Check out this preview "bulletin insert" about Lenten worship and formation themes and participation opportunities.
Reflection
As we continue our observation of the season of Epiphany, we must ask ourselves about our place in history and our social location. How is Black History Month an epiphany, an opportunity to witness the unveiling of God's character?

We're invited to an experience of reflective de-centering.
Order of Worship
Adult Spiritual Formation - 9:00 am
You're invited to Spiritual Formation, in person in the Shadow Rock Multipurpose Room and on Zoom. Today we're continuing to read along with the Word About Life from the Lectionary. Today's selection is advanced citizenship in God's Realm: loving our enemies. Consistent with our Epiphany theme, we're asking, "How do I love my enemies? How does my struggle to do so reveal the Spirit?" All are welcome, and all of YOU is welcome!

Worship Begins - 10:15 am

Welcome and Announcements ~ Pastor Ken
As worship begins, we pause to welcome and extend greetings to anyone visiting us this week! No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you are welcome here.

Stay tuned to Shadow Rock news mid-week with Rock the Week, our Wednesday email newsletter.

Create the Space
One: Where do we find you, Holy One, and how do we follow?
All: Find me at your table, so we might share food.
One: Find me in your mercy, so we might share pain.
All: Find me in your riches and power, so we might share resources.
One: We’ll share forgiveness and generosity. We’ll share community and wholeness in our time together today.

Singing Our Faith ~ "Be Thou My Vision"
Be Thou my vision, O God of my heart;
Nought be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
Great God of heaven, my treasure Thou art.

Opening Prayer and Meditation ~ Karen Richter

Invitation to Give
One: When we give our offerings, we are witnesses to the transforming love of God in Christ.
All: As we have received from abundance, we give from abundance.
One: Our gifts and our service honors the Spirit of Life and all of Creation.

Offertory
Word About Life ~ Luke 6: 27-38
“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

“If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Word About Life for Today ~ Rev. Ken Heintzelman

Words for Mission
One: Send us into the world, O Holy One, ready to witness to your generosity and forgiveness.
All: Send us into the world, O Holy One, ready to shape a world of justice and inclusion.
One: These are the times.
All: We are the people.
One: All of Creation is blessed.
All: May we love all and serve all.
One: May God be with you.
All: And also with you.
One: Amen.
All: Amen.

Sending Forth - "Companions on Our Journey"
Chorus
We are companions on our journey,
Breaking bread and sharing life.
In the love we bear is the hope we share
For we believe in the love of our God.
Yes, we believe in the love of our God.

No longer strangers to each other,
No longer strangers in God’s house,
We are blest and we are nourished,
By the love we all can share.

Chorus
