Welcome to Worship! Whether you're joining by Zoom or in person, it's good to be together.

Even as we relish the season of Epiphany, we look ahead to Lent and Easter. Check out this preview "bulletin insert" about Lenten worship and formation themes and participation opportunities.
Reflection

Create the Space
One: Something drew us together this morning...
All: Something we can’t name but which we experience in worship -
One: Some holy mystery we call God -
All: Some sacred calling we hear in the life of Jesus -
One: Some indescribable hope we feel when we gather in the Spirit.
All: May our experience of the Divine transform our doubts and fears and prepare us to love the world.

Singing Our Faith ~ "Many Gifts, One Spirit"

God of change and glory, God of time and space,
When we fear the future, give to us your grace.
In the midst of changing ways, give us still the grace to praise.
Chorus:
Many gifts, one Spirit, one love known in many ways.
In our difference is blessing, from diversity we thank
One Giver, one Lord, one Spirit, one Word,
Known in many ways, hallowing our day.
For the Giver, for the gifts,
Thanks, Thanks, Thanks!

God of many colors, God of many signs,
You have made us different, blessing many kinds.
As the old ways disappear, let your love cast out our fear.
Chorus
Celebrations and Prayer Requests
This is our time to share the celebrations of our lives: birthdays,
anniversaries, words of kindness and works of peace and justice.

Pastoral Prayer

Invitation to Give ~ Liz Curry
One: The needs of our world are too numerous to name. Shelter, food, clean air and water…
All: Our gifts touch these needs, but the biggest gift we can give is to love the world so much that we give of ourselves.
One: Our giving is in response to needs: the needs of the world and our own human need to connect and serve.

Word About Life ~ Luke 9: 28-43a
Now about eight days after these sayings Jesus took with him Peter and John and James, and went up on the mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly they saw two men, Moses and Elijah, talking to him. They appeared in glory and were speaking of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem. Now Peter and his companions were weighed down with sleep; but since they had stayed awake, they saw his glory and the two men who stood with him. Just as they were leaving him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here; let us make three dwellings, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah”—not knowing what he said. While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them; and they were terrified as they entered the cloud. Then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my Child, my Chosen; listen to him!” When the voice had spoken, Jesus was found alone. And they kept silent and in those days told no one any of the things they had seen.

Word About Life for Today ~ Rev. Ken Heintzelman

Words for Mission
One: May God now send us back down the mountain of our worship. We have been changed.
All: We can’t be silent anymore. We have seen the Light of the World. We are called to share the radiance we have experienced.
One: These are the times.
All: We are the people.
One: All of Creation is blessed.
All: May we love all and serve all.
One: May God be with you.
All: And also with you.
One: Amen.
All: Amen.

Sending Forth - "Peace Like a River"
I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river,
I’ve got peace like a river in my soul. (Repeat)

I’ve got love like an ocean, I’ve got love like an ocean,
I’ve got love like an ocean in my soul. (Repeat)

I’ve got joy like a fountain, I’ve got joy like a fountain,
I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. (Repeat)

I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got love like an ocean,
I’ve got joy like a fountain in my soul. (Repeat)
