GATHERING

Welcome and Announcements

Joining Our Voices ~ "Gather Us In"
Here in this place a new light is streaming,
Now is the darkness vanished away,
See in this space our fears and our dreamings
Brought here to you in the light of this day.
Gather us in, the lost and forsaken,
Gather us in, the blind and the lame.
Call to us now, and we shall awaken;
We shall arise at the sound of our name.

We are the young, our lives are a myst’ry,
We are the old who yearn for your face.
We have been sung throughout all of hist’ry,
Called to be light to the whole human race.
Gather us in, the rich and the haughty.
Gather us in, the proud and the strong.
Give us a heart so meek and so lowly;
Give us the courage to enter the song.

Call to Worship
One: Our God knows us intimately and that knowledge came before we knew ourselves.
Many: God who Parents the Human Family, we rejoice that you call us to build, to know, to experience joy.
One: In our call, there is delight. May your love have its way in us and through us.
Many: Embolden us to speak our wisdom! May the power of grace and truth always be evident in our words and actions.

Singing Our Faith ~ "Guide Us to Openness"
(tune: Great is Thy Faithfulness)
Guide us to openness, Spirit of mercy,
Aid us in seeking God’s justice and grace.
Move us to show Christ’s compassion through witness,
Love first to offer and hate to erase.
Guide us to openness! Guide us to openness!
Let no one ever be shunned or denied.
Make of the Church a bold place of compassion,
That all who seek You may come and abide.

Spirit of tenderness, impart Your presence,
Fill both our hearts and our hands with Your care.
Let no one suffer or grieve unattended,
Grant us Your kindness and warmth here to share.
Guide us to openness! Guide us to openness!
Let no one ever be shunned or denied.
Make of the Church a bold place of compassion,
That all who seek You may come and abide.
SHARING

Celebrations
At this time, we share moments from our lives: birthdays, anniversaries, works of peace and justice. We celebrate even sorrows and grief as part of a comprehensive view of life.

Celebration Song ~ "Circle of Friends," chorus only
Laugh (echo) Cry (echo) Live (echo), Die (echo)
Hello! (echo) Goodbye! (echo)
And God makes us a circle of friends.

Invitation to Give
The Divine source is the one from whom all blessings flow. We have an eternal invitation to bring our resources together for the building of kin-dom and as seed that there might be a harvest of grace. Our giving reflects the God who knows us and the God who calls us.

LEARNING

Word About Life - Luke 8
One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, ‘Let us go across to the other side of the lake.’ So they put out, and while they were sailing he fell asleep. A gale swept down on the lake, and the boat was filling with water, and they were in danger. They went to him and woke him up, shouting, ‘Master, Master, we are perishing!’ And he woke up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, ‘Where is your faith?’ They were afraid and amazed, and said to one another, ‘Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?’

SCATTERING

Words for Mission
One: As you depart from this sacred space, may we do so fearlessly for God’s word is in us. Go and grow; build and plant.
All: We are empowered to build beloved community wherever we roam. We delight in planting seeds of love, faith, and hope.
One: These are the times.
All: We are the people.
One: All of Creation is blessed.
All: May we love all and serve all.
One: May God be with you.
All: And also with you.
One: Amen.
All: Amen.

Sending Forth Song ~ "If I Had a Hammer"
If I had a hammer, I’d hammer in the morning,
I’d hammer in the evening all over this land.
I’d hammer out danger. I’d hammer out a warning.
I’d hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters,
All over this land.

If I had a bell...
