Welcome and Announcements

Joining Our Voices ~

"Clothe Ourselves with Compassion"

We are the people of God; we are the people of God.

We’re accepted and beloved,

and so we must clothe ourselves…

With compassion, and kindness, humility, gentleness, and

patience. And over all these things, over all these things,

over all these things, put on love. (Repeat)

Call to Worship

One: Come, Beloved of God, the blistering wind of life is not the end.

Many: May the eye of the storm still us into wholeness and hope.

One: May the wind of God turn us around toward trust in the way life is.

Many: May our responses to the Spirit be pressed anew into our hearts and minds.

One: May everything of excess be released and refined for Love’s good work, on behalf of Creation.

Prayer of Remembrance

O Holy Wind of God, sweep through our lives. Pause us into your presence, slowing our breathless pace. Refine in us a renewed willingness to bear gracious goodness into the chaos of the world. Let our memories on this day, call forth an alternative to the easy response of violence for violence. Form instead a steady commitment to return love in the face of fear, hope in the midst of despair, and mercy for every brokenness of the world’s design. By this, form anew the heart and mind of Christ in us, here, now, today.

Singing Our Faith ~ "Draw the Circle Wide"

Chorus: Draw the circle wide. Draw it wider still.

Let this be our song, no one stands alone, standing

side by side – Draw the circle wide.

God the stillpoint of the circle,

round whom all creation turns.

Nothing lost but held forever, in God’s gracious arms. Chorus

Let our hearts touch far horizons,

so encompass great and small.

Let our loving know no borders, faithful to God’s call! Chorus

Let the dreams we dream be larger

than we’ve ever dreamed before.

Let the dream of Christ be in us, open every door. Chorus

SHARING

Celebrations

At this time, we share moments from our lives: birthdays, anniversaries, works of peace and justice. We celebrate even sorrows and grief as part of a comprehensive view of life.

Invitation to Give

Our lives are gifts not of our making. But by our consent to Love’s deep desire we are indeed remade. God is generous in this way, searching out every lost sheep or coin or beloved child until the fullness of joy rises in celebration. So we are invited to share, adding our

generosity to the Spirit’s in ways that make life good.

LEARNING

Word About Life -

Luke 6: 47-49

‘Why do you call me “Lord, Lord”, and do not do what I tell you? I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, hears my words, and acts on them. That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when a flood arose, the river burst against that house but could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, immediately it fell, and great was the ruin of that house.’

SCATTERING

Words for Mission

One: May the wind of God be strong in us all. May it be

neither too little nor too much for the gift of each day.

All: May it be strong enough to deepen us in God. May it be gentle enough for us to catch the breath of life.

One: May we learn to breathe the grace and peace of Christ in to the life of the world. These are the times!

All: We are the people.

One: All of Creation is blessed.

All: May we love all and serve all.

One: May God be with you.

All: And also with you.

One: Amen.

All: Amen.

Sending Forth Song ~ "Weave, Weave"

Chorus: Weave, weave, weave us together

Weave us together in unity and love.

Weave, weave, weave us together,

Weave us together, together in love.

We are many textures, we are many colors,

Each one diff’rent from the other. But we are entwined with one another, in one great tapestry. Chorus

We are diff’rent instruments playing our own melodies,

Each one tuning to a diff’rent key.

But we are all playing in harmony in one great symphony. Chorus

Moments ago we did not know our unity, only diversity.

Now the Christ in me greets the Christ in thee,

In one great family. Chorus
