Hyde Jackson Monthly April 20, 2017

As an organization that works closely with small businesses in Hyde and Jackson Squares, we value initiatives that highlight small businesses as well as the services to help them become established and grow. National Small Business Week is a celebration of small businesses and all they contribute to the local and national economies. Small businesses help solidify our neighborhood by providing products and services residents want and need, supporting the community and community institutions, being "eyes on the street" (read Jane Jacobs' Death and Life of Great American Cities), and knowing us, our kids and our families. Out-of-state online sales portals do not do this, our merchants do. If you are a business owner, read below about the great workshops and services for you by the City of Boston's Office of Economic Development, the U.S. Small Business Administration, SCORE Boston, and other Main Streets programs.

Main Street Activities

Help Us Beautify Centre Street on Sat., April 22

What better way to nurture our urban, natural environment this Earth Day on Saturday, April 22 than to take care of our tree
s and plant shrubs and flowers in the Hyde Jackson business district. We will be gathering volunteers at Mozart Park at 9:00 am and split into groups to put fresh mulch on our street trees and plant along the street and in open spaces in Mozart Park and the municipal parking lot across from the Blessed Sacrament Church.
This is a bi- and sometimes tri-annual activity that really gets the sweat working and fosters personal relationships by working together to spruce up the district. Please contact us at info@hydejacksonsquare.org to let us know that you will coming.

More Help Needed on Our Inside Out Sidewalk Sale

Our Inside Out Sidewalk Sale on May 20 is a great opportunity to showcase neighborhood businesses. We have many ways for you to help out. We are looking for creative, local musicians for performances along the street and energetic volunteers to help with set up and break down before and after the event.

To learn about these opportunities or to just volunteer,
please contact us at info@hydejacksonsquare.org.
