Main Street Activities

Teatro en el Parque Returns in July with Botánica
We are so excited to organize the 5th year of Teatro en el Parque this summer on sure-to-be warm evenings on Thursday, July 27; Friday, July 28; and Saturday, July 28

Once again Escena Latina Teatro will be presenting their latest interpretation of the Spanish-worlds most interesting and fun plays and those that relate to our neighborhood where Spanish-speakers from other countries first came in large numbers in Boston. Botánica, authored by Dolores Prida,
is the story of an herb shop in a Latino neighborhood in Boston where the venerable Doña Geno, a spiritual leader in the community, concocts love potions, divines the future and dispenses spiritual cures. Neighbors find comfort, remedies, and/or advice in the shop to solve life's most pressing and daily problems. Millie, Doña Geno's granddaughter who has just obtained a degree at a university in New Hampshire, has plans other than helping to run the botánica, which leads to a generational and cultural confrontation between Millie and Doña Geno.

As always, the show is free. We'll have food and music before each show so plan to enjoy your dinner and a show with us. The most up-to-date listing of music and food can be found on our website. In case of rain or inclement weather, the play will be held at the J.F. Kennedy Elementary School around the corner from Mozart Park at 7 Bolster Street.

Please RSVP your seats with us at info@hydejacksonsquare.org to let us know that you will coming.
