Opportunities

Electric Vehicle Charger Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator

The DOE has recently issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity intended to aid state and federal governments repair non-functional level 2 and DCFast EV chargers. The FOA is anticipated to set aside a combined $100 million for these activities. To be eligible, the charger must be publicly available, and listed as "temporarily unavailable" in the Alternative Fuels Data Center's Station. USDOT has put forth a list of eligible chargers in the supplementary materials. Applications due Nov. 13.

Technical Assistance 101 – How Can the Joint Office Support You

The US Joint Office of Energy and Transportation have recently put out a guide on how to receive technical assistance from them. They are available as a resource to entities pursuing grants in the clean transportation space, as well as others planning their fleet transition. Approaching them through this channel is a good first step to folding them in to future opportunities.

What if public transit was like Uber? A small city ended its bus service to find out

"Wilson landed federal and state infrastructure grants to support the shared, public rides residents summon — usually within 15 minutes — through a service operating like Uber and Lyft, but at a fraction of the cost to riders. Trips are now $2.50, a dollar more than they were at launch, and Bunn quips, “you can’t drive a Pinto for that.”

Biden-Harris Administration Sending States $61 Billion from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law for America’s Roads and Bridges

Anticipated EV manufacturing jobs in the Southeast grew 56% over the past 12 months, as manufacturing investments grew 97%. This 12-month growth was driven by Hyundai in Georgia, which committed $4.3 billion in battery manufacturing investments in partnership with LG Energy Solutions, and Toyota in North Carolina, which expanded its committed battery manufacturing investments to $5.9 billion"

Transportation Leaders Break Ground on State’s First Multimodal Electric Charging Stations

"Funded by the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, the ChargeX Consortium includes a team of researchers from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), Argonne National Laboratory, and Idaho National Laboratory (INL). The national laboratories, led by INL, will collaborate with a cross section of the EV charging stakeholder community to address major charging experience challenges over the next two years."

Greensboro: A North Carolina City Imagines a “Car-Optional” Future

"Greensboro, North Carolina is a pleasant city of 300,000 with two big universities, located in the Piedmont Triad northeast of Charlotte. The city has already adopted a goal to be “car-optional by 2045. What kind of public transit would that goal require?"
