While school may be out, hygiene poverty doesn’t take a break. In fact, summer is one of the highest-need times of the year. Without access to school-based resources, thousands of kids and families lose a critical lifeline for basic hygiene essentials like soap, deodorant, and toothpaste.

You can make a big difference by hosting a product drive this summer. Whether it’s with your workplace, neighborhood, place of worship, or summer camp group, collecting donations or hygiene items helps ensure families in our community can step into each day with confidence and dignity.

The Power of Showing Up: May Volunteers Made an Incredible Impact

In May, more than 400 volunteers stepped up to help us meet the growing need for hygiene essentials in our community. Together, they packed an incredible 202,000 items—each one representing dignity, confidence, and hope for someone who might otherwise go without.

Whether it was sorting, counting, packing, or prepping—every action taken by our volunteers helped us move hygiene products into the hands of students, families, and individuals who need them most.

One of those special volunteer groups was the Kansas City Royals wives, who joined us to cut bars of soap and box up products for local families. .

Team spots are still available for the Scramble for Dignity Golf Tournament, hosted by Moonshot Solution. This event directly supports Giving the Basics’ mission to provide essential hygiene products to those in need in our community.
