Kamran Jalali and one of his luxury homes
Customer focus: KJ Luxury Homes - Amazing craftsmanship + customer satisfaction
KJ Luxury Homes has been delivering Atlanta dream homes for 27+ years. Kamran Jalali founded the business in 1989, and now leads a talented and dedicated team that takes pride in their work, striving to surpass industry standards. Highly regarded for reliability, Kamran’s personable approach ensures clients’ demands are met at every step of the homebuilding journey.

“With a degree in industrial engineering from Tehran Institute of Technology and a background building homes in Iran, I continued in the real estate market once I’d moved to Georgia, building my first house in the U.S. in Alpharetta in 2002,” he says. “I’ve now built around 200 homes, pausing only during the economic downturn of the late 2000s.”

Most of the houses KJ Luxury Homes builds are custom ones in Alpharetta and Milton, though they also build in Sandy Springs, Brookhaven and Dunwoody, also building spec homes. Kamran says they are working on a gated community in downtown Alpharetta, with five custom homes, each at least 5,000 square feet. He’s particularly excited about that project – for which development funding is being provided by Hyperion – which should wrap up later this year.

“Our custom builds are typically between 6,000 and 12,000 square feet, with the customer involved every step of the way, from design and layout to finishing touches,” he says, noting that an in-house design team works with the client and architect to take stress out of the decisions. “We pride ourselves on designing everything before construction begins so customers know what to expect.”

That kind of attention to detail and customer satisfaction means it’s no surprise Kamran and KJ Luxury Homes followed banker Carlos Leverde to Hyperion. “Carlos has been my banker for a while now, and I always appreciate his service and attention,” Kamran says. “I’m really happy with Hyperion Bank, really impressed – it’s been a great experience.”

And having the right financial partner is crucial, given Kamran’s quest to triple the size of the business over the next five years, “which would take our revenue above $50 million,” he says.

“Customer satisfaction is our number-one priority,” Kamran says. “We continue learning every day and our base of trustworthy suppliers and vendors – some of which we’ve worked with since our inception – help us to deliver solutions that satisfy our customers.”

Fraud Prevention
Your financial partner
Working together to help prevent fraud
Multiple agencies and organizations are spreading the word about active check & mail fraud in our area. In fact, Toni Hughes, Hyperion’s Compliance Officer, shares that check fraud has risen over 385% since the pandemic (U.S. Treasury Department). “Hyperion Bank customers have experienced theft of checks from U.S. Mail first-hand,” Toni says.

To help keep your funds & identity safer, we’re sharing these anti-fraud reminders:
  • One of the easiest things to prevent is stolen mail: Take outgoing mail inside a post office; do not put mail in a blue postal drop box, even one located directly outside a post office or “in a good area.” Likewise, do not place outgoing mail in your home mailbox for pickup.
  • Altered and counterfeit checks: Stolen checks can be “washed,” literally changing “pay to,” amount & other information. Carefully examine bank statements & consider doing a daily check of online bank accounts.
  • If you receive a check from an unfamiliar person or organization, do not automatically cash or deposit it.
  • ID theft: Never give a caller your Social Security # or other account information.
  • Nobody legitimate will ask you to log into online banking or make a transfer to fix a problem.
  • Be wary of any request to make a wire transfer or large cash withdrawal.
  • Similarly, if a potential recipient asks you to conceal any part of a transaction from your bank…refuse.

Please use caution and be alert. If you suspect you’ve become a victim of a scam, please call or visit Hyperion ASAP. The quicker you contact us, the faster we can try to limit fraud. In the meantime, please view the American Bankers Association/USPS check fraud infographic on our website.

Bridget Ungblut Nicole Leitz holding Bagel Dr Lauren Cohn and Nancy Martino
You might say it’s a banker’s pet project…
Hyperion recently made a $1,000 donation to Fishtails Animal Rescue, located down the street from our Philadelphia banking office. Shown presenting the donation, from left, are Hyperion’s Bridget Yungblut and Nicole Leitz (holding Bagel), veterinarian Dr. Lauren Cohn and Hyperion customer Nancy Martino.

Martino is living with cancer and doing well but wanting to put her affairs in order. As part of that process, she identified non-profit Fishtails as being able to eventually help ensure her beloved cat Coy is cared for and adopted. Fishtails is an outgrowth of Dr. Lauren Cohn’s Fishtown Animal Hospital.

Founded in 2020, Fishtails Animal Rescue takes in rescues, especially those shelters might deem hard to adopt. Dr. Cohn promised Nancy that she would find a home for Coy so Nancy does not have to worry about her beloved cat’s care. (In a new twist, Nicole now has a new veterinarian – Dr. Cohn! – and she may be the one to end up adopting Coy, to come live with her other cats, Puddy and Uncle Leo.)

During the process Nicole had the opportunity to see the great work being done by Dr. Cohn, including meeting a lot of cats that were rescued and waiting to be fostered or permanently placed in good homes. This includes Bagel, pictured above, who recently showed up at Fishtails – at dinner time! – where volunteers were tending to cats in “Marty’s Yard,” named for the first cat Dr. Cohn rescued. Bagel has since been adopted by his foster Mom – a Fishtails happy tale!

Fishtails relies on donations to ensure the animals it cares for have a chance to thrive, and Hyperion looks forward to continue teaming with Fishtails to make a difference in our community. To donate, adopt or foster, visit Fishtails’ website. Or visit in person – you might just bring a new fur friend home. For more about Fishtown Animal Hospital.

Professor Charlie Crawford
Community banker in the classroom (again)

Hyperion’s Charlie Crawford was recently a guest lecturer for the “Start-to-Launch Mini Venture” course at Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. The class of mostly seniors is led by Hyperion customer Albert Assad, who also is the principal of Atlantic Consulting Solutions.

In the course, the students decide what kind of business to start and run; they decided to design and sell sweatshirts. When Charlie concluded his remarks, he asked if they needed another customer and bought one of the sweatshirts.

Let us know if you need a banker to speak to your community, business or school group.
