Customer Focus: PWRBLD Gym

Building Strength, Community and Momentum

When Collin Whitney set out to build PWRBLD Gym, he wasn’t interested in creating just another fitness space. He envisioned a high-energy, next-level training environment for people who take their lifting seriously – and wanted the facilities, coaching and culture to match that commitment.

“Our gym typically attracts people who are looking for a higher-energy environment,” he says. “People who are really into lifting. I take a lot of pride in our equipment – it’s very specialized, premium equipment you are not going to see at most other gyms – and in the overall experience we offer.”

That experience includes 24/7 access, a recovery lounge, and a full coaching team at each location, giving members flexibility and expert support. PWRBLD gyms also serve as community hubs, hosting competitions, training events and gatherings that bring serious lifters together. This spring, the new Center City location will host the 2026 USA Powerlifting Broad Street Bullies, a USA Powerlifting (USAPL)-sanctioned event on April 18.

That newest PWRBLD Gym opened in Center City Philadelphia in November 2025, marking the brand’s continued expansion following locations in King of Prussia and Warrington.

Behind that growth is a long-standing banking relationship built on trust and continuity. Whitney first connected with Hyperion banker Jennifer Gardella during COVID, when she assisted him with a PPP loan shortly after he opened his first gym. That relationship continued as she worked with him on an SBA loan to support the King of Prussia expansion.

“When it was time to open the Philly location, it was a natural to reach out to Jenn,” Whitney says. “Working with Jenn and Hyperion has been an awesome experience. She’s gone above and beyond – her communication is incredible, and even after we were up and running, she’s stayed engaged. That really matters to me.”

Jennifer says the partnership reflects what community banking is meant to be. “We appreciate the opportunity to grow with our customers,” she says. “That’s an integral part of relationship banking.”

Recently, Hyperion’s Alex Cole, Lauren Flowers, Jennifer Gardella and Danielle Selway visited Whitney at the Center City location ahead of its opening – underscoring the bank’s hands-on approach and long-term commitment.

As PWRBLD Gym continues to grow, Whitney remains focused on delivering a specialized, premium experience that builds strength – both physical and communal. “We’re building more than gyms,” he says. “We’re building places where people push themselves and support one another.”

4th Quarter Growth

As we just shared in our Q4 2025 Report to Shareholders, Hyperion closed 2025 with the most profitable quarter in the bank’s history, driving full-year revenue growth of 13%, net income growth of 35%, and continued balance-sheet expansion fueled by disciplined loan and deposit growth.

These results reflect, among other facets, the trust of our customers (THANK YOU) and deliberate investments in tech – as we prepare for enhanced digital offerings 2026.

It’s a strong foundation for the New Year – and we look forward to building on it together. How can we help evaluate and enhance your business and personal banking foundation for the year ahead?

We appreciate your confidence, partnership & referrals!

Customer appreciation & the economic outlook

Hyperion Bank's recent cocktail-and-nibblies customer appreciation event at the Union League of Philadelphia was well-attended, informative and fun. The event featured economist and Hyperion board member Lara Rhame, presenting a “2026 Outlook: Adapting Economy and Adjusting Markets.”

Among her 2026 outlook takeaways:

  • Growth will remain solid
  • Inflation will remain a pain point
  • Enormous uncertainty around Fed policy and interest rates
  • AI will dominate 2026 again

Check out all photos from the event on our Facebok page. And ask your favorite Hyperion Banker to keep you posted about future customer events. Shown below left, are (from left) Hyperion Chair & CEO Charlie Crawford; Lara Rhame; and Jim McAlpin, also a member of Hyperion’s board and Senior Counsel at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner.

Celebrating an anniversary + strong relationships

Frank Sullivan with Alex and Lauren

At a recent customer appreciation event, colleagues and a few family members were on hand to help congratulate HyperionBank EVP & Commercial Lender Frank Sullivan on his 18th anniversary with the bank. Quite a milestone for a bank that will turn 20 later this year.

Since joining Hyperion Bank in January 2008, Frank has built long and strong relationships with many of the region’s small business owners, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs and real estate developers. He enjoys seeing the many thriving businesses and new residences in and around Philadelphia, because he's personally helped many of them start and grow. And for more than 30 years, Frank has focused on lending in small, community-based institutions like Hyperion Bank, where he has the ability to deliver highly personal service and create funding solutions that help his customers achieve their goals.

“My time at Hyperion has been one of the most significant events in my life,” Franks says. He is shown here with the bank’s Alexandra Cole, left, and Lauren Flowers. Congratulations on this impressive milestone – happy anniversary, Frank!

MOCA-GA Site Visit

From left, The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia - MOCA GA Board Chair, Philip Babb, is shown with the Hyperion’s Amy Ellis; Annette Cone-Skelton, artist, curator & MOCA-GA founder; and the bank’s Charlie Crawford at a site visit of the museum’s new home, the completion of which is not far off. (Hyperion is providing one of the sources of lending toward MOCA-GA’s new 26,000-square-foot facility at the Goat Farm Arts Center in West Midtown Atlanta.) “It’s taken a diverse and generous village to bring us to the building of our first permanent home on land we own and during our celebratory 25th year,” Cone-Skelton says, “and we’re glad that team includes Hyperion, which has been responsive and enthusiastic, with a great understanding of our goals, processes and role in the community.” We look forward to seeing you at the opening of the new facility soon. In the meantime, learn more about MOCA-GA, its rich history and current and coming exhibits.

Joel Higdon elevated to Chief Retail Officer

Joel Higdon

We’re pleased to share exciting news from within the Hyperion Bank family. Joel Higdon has been promoted to Chief Retail Officer, expanding his leadership role as the bank continues to grow alongside the communities we serve.

Many of our customers already know Joel. Since joining Hyperion in 2020 as a branch manager, he has become a familiar and trusted presence – someone who believes deeply in what makes community banking work: local decision-making, accessible bankers, and genuine relationships.

In his new role, Joel will oversee retail strategy, branch performance and client experience initiatives across the bank. His focus remains the same – supporting our retail teams and ensuring customers continue to receive the high-touch, personal service they expect from Hyperion, even as we grow.

“Serving in this role allows me to build on what we’ve been fostering – strong teams, meaningful relationships and a great customer experience,” Joel says. “I’m grateful for the trust placed in me and excited for what’s ahead.” A Georgia native and Georgia State University graduate, Joel lives in Chamblee and enjoys spending time outdoors when he’s not at the bank.

Please join us in congratulating Joel on this well-earned promotion. We’re proud of the leadership he brings to Hyperion – and excited about where we’re headed together.👏

Our customers say it best – and we appreciate recognition of our team members, like Lexus Whyte, who are the heartbeat of Hyperion.❤️

Lexus Whyte

“I wanted to take a moment of your time and express my gratitude for the excellent service Lexus provided in the execution of a new CD this week. This is my 4th (certificate of deposit) with Hyperion. She spent a lot of time guiding me through the process and finalizing the documents to my satisfaction. Her patience and professionalism are very much appreciated, and I thought she should be congratulated on a job well done. Service like hers will bring me back to Hyperion again.”
