Q4 2024: Most profitable quarter, loans + total assets up
In its Q4 2024 Report to Shareholders, Hyperion Bancshares, Inc., Hyperion Bank’s
holding company, notes that it ended the year on a high note, achieving the community bank’s most profitable quarter of the year and the largest amount of loan growth.
“2024 was another strong year of growth with loans and total assets increasing by 12%, and a slight increase in deposits,” says the bank’s CEO and Chairman Charlie Crawford, a longtime community banker. Charlie notes that non-Interest income jumped by 30% while non-interest expense increased by only 5%. Hyperion’s total revenue for 2024 increased by 17% and net income was slightly lower as the bank increased its provision for loan losses and unfunded commitments and its 12-month average net interest margin was lower. (See the full report.)
And THANK YOU for your confidence, partnership & referrals!

Speaking of...building bridges to generational wealth
Late last month – on an unseasonably beautiful day at Capitol City Country Club – we partnered with our friends at Wildmor Advisors to present a “Building Bridges to Generational Wealth” lunch & learn. Sharing his highly experienced and expert insights was Robert Balentine, Chairman of Balentine, a premier wealth management firm, and a Hyperion friend & client.
While not billed as a 2025 economic forecast, attendees did walk through key indicators for the next year-plus, led by Balentine, who also is the author of “First Generation Wealth: Three Enduring Principles for Wealth, Family, and Legacy.”
Greeting guests was Hyperion’s Charlie Crawford and Shan Morris, Founder & Principal of Wildmor Advisors, an Atlanta-based real estate advisory group that disrupts the traditional approach to commercial real estate.
How can Hyperion, Wildmor & Balentine assist as you navigate the new year…and beyond?

Welcome Nancy Hollingsworth
Nancy Hollingsworth is a Loan Operations Specialist in Hyperion’s Philadelphia headquarters banking office. She has been in banking more than 30 years, all in the Pennsylvania/New Jersey Region.
“Nancy is a caring person who likes helping people,” says Nicole Hicken, Vice President, Loan Operations and Portfolio Management. “That combined with her experience and attention to detail make her a great fit for our team.”
New Jersey born and raised Nancy has lived in the area since, except for three years during her teens when she lived in Puerto Rico. Her banking career began five days after she graduated from high school and almost didn’t happen. “I think I failed my typing test, but the supervisor forgot to set the timer, so I took it again and passed!” Along the way she also earned her real estate license. Away from work, Nancy says she loves to eat and going to different restaurants. She has three children and one grandson, who is four. “Having my grandson was the happiest day of my life, as was having my children.” Rounding out the family are four cats – including one grandcat.

“Ka’Rin loves assisting customers and helping them achieve their financial goals and building relationships,” says Lee Green, Vice President and Chief Retail Officer, “which makes her a perfect fit for our team and for our customers, who have come to expect and appreciate high-touch service.”
Philly born and raised Ka’Rin’s older sister named her after a classmate. Ka’Rin went to school to become a medical assistant, eventually focusing on a career as a nurse. But fate intervened: “At the end of my courses , I was sent on an interview at a bank…and here I am 18 and a half years later,” she says. Away from work, she loves interior decorating and would love to turn that into something more. Ka’Rin also loves travel, reading, fashion and being a mom. She has one daughter and a cat (Leo)

Roundup: Hyperion news & notes…
Calendar note: Hyperion Bank will be closed Mon., Feb. 17, in honor of Presidents’ Day. Enjoy online banking via our website or app anytime, 24/7. | We've watched the continuing devastation from the fires in California. While we are based in Philadelphia, with a banking office in Atlanta, Hyperion has customers, business partners and other friends across the country, including in California. The Robb Report recently included this partial list for anyone who wishes to assist those who face losses due to the fires and who wish to support first responders. We appreciate all those who battle the fires, and are thinking of all who are affected.
February is #BlackHistoryMonth, also known as African American History Month. Visit Philadelphia has a great guide to help you recognize the month in myriad ways. Similarly, you can learn and commemorate Black History in Atlanta with a things-to-do list provided by Discover Atlanta. We’ll be sharing some of these across the bank’s social media throughout the month. | Happy Valentine’s Day! We love what we do – because of customers like you. Thank you for making us your financial partner the whole year through! (Valentine’s Day seems like another great opportunity to say Hyperion Bank appreciates you and your business!)
Jim McAlpin – a member of Hyperion’s Board & Senior Counsel with law firm Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner – moderated the “What to Expect from Washington” panel at Bank Director’s just-concluded Acquire or Be Acquired national conference in Phoenix. We’re proud that Hyperion’s Board Members are sought-after thought leaders. Jim regularly participates in Bank Director and other industry events, often focusing on strategy and insights for bank directors & bank C-suites. (In fact, Jim is now a Board member of Bank Director.) Hyperion’s Charlie Crawford was also part of the conference – and served as our photographer! :-)

Our people make the Hyperion difference
We celebrated quarterly birthdays and service anniversaries yesterday at Hyperion’s Philadelphia banking office. A spread from Sweet Lucy’s Smokehouse and goodies from L & M Bakery were well-received. No wonder Hyperion Bank was among the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Best Places to Work for 2024
