Keep high(er)-balance deposits safe...in one bank
|
|
Hyperion has helped a number of new & existing customers discover the safety, value and convenience of accessing multi-million-dollar FDIC protection by working directly with just one bank.
“After concluding a significant capital raise, we needed a familiar and safe place to ‘park’ those funds, preferably all in one location,” says Sigurjon Kristjansson, CEO of Nox Health. “Hyperion's ICS® and CDARS® programs allowed us to access multi-million-dollar FDIC protection beyond the standard limit while working directly with just one bank. We're earning interest, and our funds are fully insured. And we get to work with bankers we know and trust. I believe many different types of businesses could benefit from Hyperion’s FDIC enhancement product. It’s been a terrific solution for our company.”
Charlie Crawford wrote about this option recently; see the article here. You also can find more information about safety, convenience, returns, flexibility and consolidated detailed reporting on our website.

Pulse Entertainment = 30 years of unforgettable events
|
|
The two most popular events people are booking at this time of year are corporate events and weddings, according to Ross Akselrad. “Everybody just got engaged over the winter holidays…and over Valentine’s Day…plus brides are starting to look around.”
Akselrad – the founder of Pulse Entertainment – knows of what he speaks, as he founded “the East Coast’s full-service one-stop shop for all your party needs” in 1993, after getting started DJ-ing in high school. Today, Pulse provides not only DJs and MCs, but also dancers, photographers, lighting specialists, videographers, and party planners that provide the best in high-quality event services. Everything you need to “Pulse your party.”
“The corporate side of things also ramps up once the new year turns over,” Ross says, “in part because a lot of organizations know their budgets and are ready to get things on the books for the year.” He also says bar and bat mitzvahs are right behind that in terms of scheduling. “January and February are always…exciting.”
Ross was referred to Hyperion – and specifically to Nicole Leitz – by a friend in his industry when he found his former bank becoming less helpful.
“Nicole helped me solve all those problems,” he says, “and helped me navigate getting a small business loan. She could help with all of the banking we needed, and even anticipated and pre-empted any issues, whereas before I was just running into fees with any bank interaction.”
And Ross needed to streamline his banking because Pulse Entertainment covers a lot of territory, not just all over Greater Philadelphia, but also Harrisburg, Bucks County, Montgomery County, New Jersey – and even Baltimore, Ohio and New York. Learn more at their website – including great testimonials and video – or via email or phone, 215-354-1060.
“Nicole has been great to work with,” he says. “She started out by saying, ‘I am here to figure this out with you,’ and her customer service is top notch.”

Another strong year of growth with loans and deposits increasing
|
|
In its Fourth Quarter 2023 Report to Shareholders, Hyperion Bancshares, Inc., Hyperion Bank’s holding company, noted continuing growth.
“2023 was another strong year of growth with loans and deposits increasing by 29%,” says the bank’s CEO and Chairman Charlie Crawford, a longtime community banker, “and the fourth quarter of the year was our most profitable.”
Crawford notes that revenue was 65% higher for the year with lower profits as the cost of deposits was significantly higher, the bank increased its provision for loan losses, and it no longer had tax credits. He says the bank is focused on increasing non-interest income which was up 30% over the last 12 months. Credit quality remains very healthy, and the bank put almost twice as much money in its loan loss provision as a result of strong loan growth.
In the shareholder letter, Crawford – along with Hyperion President & COO Lou DeCesare, also a community banking veteran – reflects that most banking headlines early in this New Year herald good news, while recognizing that other headlines are more sobering, focusing, for example, on the disproportionate number of small banks that have over-invested in bonds, putting themselves – and their stakeholders – at risk.
“We wanted to again be proactive in underscoring the fact that Hyperion continues to be well diversified,” DeCesare says. “’Balance’ is our standard stance; it has served us – and you – well, and we shall continue to focus on safety, soundness, stability and diversification.” They also emphasized transparency and an ongoing open-door policy.

Lou DeCesare: 10-year anniversary with Hyperion
|
|
Lou DeCesare – Hyperion’s President & COO – marked 10 years with the bank in September, but we’re so busy we didn’t let him celebrate until recently. Since joining the bank in 2013, Lou has positioned Hyperion so that it can robustly serve its business and individual customers and provide a high-quality place for those customers, as well as employees and other stakeholders, to achieve success. A serendipitous silver lining: Lou has a natural affinity for the neighborhood, given he was born on Girard Avenue, just blocks from the Bank’s location. CONGRATULATIONS on your 10-year anniversary, Lou!
