CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT
Home of the Fishtown iced tea…
and so much more
|
|
All three owners of Interstate Drafthouse – Robert Ritchie, Keith Dailey & Michael McCloskey – are from the Fishtown area, where you can find the “laid-back, Southern-style tavern.” The current ownership team has been in place since 2017, though the Drafthouse was established 6 years earlier.
“We are passionate about being part of our vibrant community,” they says, and “love that we know many of our patrons on a personal level.” That sounds just about right for a place offering a unique lineup of craft beers, iced-tea cocktails (Fishtown iced tea, anyone?) and creative pub fare.
The three became tavern owners, “to branch out into a sector that we didn’t have much experience with, but that we were passionate and excited about. We think our neighborhood is the best neighborhood in the city to get delicious (and eclectic) food and drinks.”
They say they love being able to maintain a space for neighbors – and others – to come celebrate life’s big (and small) events. According to Ritchie, et al, “we’re the kind of place that attracts a lot of locals, and we love that connection we have with our regulars. Also, just seeing people enjoy their time at our place brings us a lot of joy.”
“Banking with Hyperion is always a pleasant experience and feels more personal
than dealing with big banks,” the team says. “We love how involved they are in the local business community too.”
And we love helping bank customers like Ritchie, Dailey & McCloskey realize their dreams for Interstate Drafthouse, which is about 1,500 steps from Hyperion. Not that we have counted.

Hyperion Q3 Report
Proud position of strength, growth
|
|
In our Third Quarter 2021 Report to Shareholders – which includes many of you –Hyperion Bancshares, Inc., Hyperion Bank’s holding company, reported significant continued growth.
“It took our company 12 years to reach $100 million in assets; 15 months later we grew assets to $200 million, and with this quarter end, we are now almost $300 million in assets,” says the bank’s CEO and Chairman Charlie Crawford. “Over the last year, our loans are up 13%, deposits have increased by 28%, and total assets are 23% higher.”
To help fund future growth, the Third Quarter Report shares that the company received an additional $5 million in subordinated debt proceeds this quarter. Earnings of the company have more than tripled from $513,205 for the first nine months of 2020 to $1,577,505 for the first nine months of 2021.
“Our credit quality has improved and allowed us to reduce our contributions to our loan loss reserve compared to the same period a year ago,” Crawford says, also noting growth in headcount in both Philadelphia and Atlanta, with the Atlanta banking office set to move into a larger, more customer-friendly space this month – still within the Piedmont Center development in the Buckhead neighborhood.
THANK YOU for your continued confidence; we are proud to be your personal and business banking partner.

Moving Day
Is Here!
Monday, November 15, we’ll open our Atlanta office doors in our new location, still within the same quad in Piedmont Center in Buckhead, but in Building 5, rather than Building 6. Look for our new signage and reserved customer parking on one of the front corners of the building. We hope to see you in person soon in this larger, more customer-friendly space! Notably, The move comes just before the Nov. 21 15th anniversary of Hyperion and just a month past the two-year anniversary of its expansion to Atlanta. (And in 2020 we launched Hyperion Mortgage, a joint venture co-located with Hyperion Atlanta, serving Georgia, Florida, Alabama & Pennsylvania.)

Professor Crawford?
Banker in the Classroom
|
|
In August the bank’s Charlie Crawford started teaching Scaling a New Venture in Georgia State University’s Entrepreneurship & Innovation Department. The undergraduate senior-level course has 18 students. Among other things, the course examines many of the decisions that founders/owners must make and the resulting trade-offs that they must accept. Charlie holds an MBA from Georgia State and reports that he is very much enjoying teaching…and learning. Charlie’s GSU bio.
