Adult Day Care, Memory Care in Sandy Springs
|
|
Town Square® Sandy Springs, an innovative adult day care center for those in need of memory or cognitive care, is the latest project from serial entrepreneurs Kellen and Sarah Stennett. Launched quietly in early October at 8601 Dunwoody Place, Suite 130, just off GA 400 Exit 6, Town Square’s Grand Opening is slated for Thursday, Oct. 13th.
The facility, which is the first of its kind in Georgia and second in the Southeast, offers experiential adult day care, weekdays from 8a-5p. Town Square is the first adult day care with a model grounded in “reminiscence therapy,” putting members at ease and sparking memories of the past by featuring a variety of mid-century America-themed activity rooms called “storefronts.”
The idea: A safe, comforting and immersive environment for loved ones while caretakers are at work, running errands or taking a much-needed break from daily routines. Designed specifically to support those living with Alzheimer's and dementia, members take part in a wide range of engaging, rotating activities facilitated by highly qualified Program Assistants (with an 8-to-1 caregiver to participant ratio) who leverage therapeutic reminiscing techniques devised to spark memories and stimulate the mind.
“This incredibly innovative concept flips traditional adult day care on its head by offering one-of-a-kind reminiscent experiences that are engaging, meaningful, as well as therapeutic,” Kellen says. “We’re going to improve the quality of life of our members and their loved ones with a longer-term goal of becoming the regional center for memory care education, support, and empowerment.”
Experienced gerontologist Mary Caldwell, Center Director, notes that, “we’re focused on elevating the level of dignity and compassion in the adult day space – and we’re going to have fun doing it.” In addition to weekly care, the facility also is available for rent on evenings and weekends for special events and group visits from senior living facilities.
“This amazing endeavor wouldn’t be possible without Hyperion,” Kellen says. “The personal attention and care make all the difference. We feel like we matter, and we know everyone there. It feels like an extension of your own team when you work with a small bank built on relationships.”

Board member Gretchen Santamour
honored at ELC event

Deborah Gordon Klehr, ELC Executive Director, with Gretchen at the Celebration.
|
|
At its 47th Anniversary Celebration last week, the Education Law Center honored three incredible champions of education and social justice, including Hyperion Board Member Gretchen Santamour, who is a partner with Stradley Ronon.
In part, Gretchen was honored as she completed her term as ELC’s “extraordinary” board chair. Also honored was the law firm O’Melveny, which partnered with ELC on a fair-funding case, and the Youth Art & Self-empowerment Project, an ELC partner agency that supports young people navigating the legal system – while advocating for system-wide reforms.
Hyperion was a proud sponsor of this terrific event, which raised a record $450,000, exceeding ELC’s ($365k) goal. All proceeds support its key program areas: Fighting for fair funding, ensuring equal access & dismantling the school-to-prison pipeline. (ELC’s mission is to ensure all children in Pennsylvania have access to quality public education, with a focus on the state’s most underserved students.)

Fastest-growing list
Hyperion Bank included three years running
|
|
At its Sept. 22 awards gala we learned that Hyperion Bank is No. 63 on the Philadelphia Business Journal's 2022 Soaring 76 list. “We are honored to be included among the many fine private & public companies on that list of Greater Philadelphia’s fastest-growing businesses,” says Lou DeCesare, Hyperion’s President & COO. (Lou, pictured right, is shown at the event with Hyperion's Frank Sullivan, EVP Commercial Lending.)
This is Hyperion’s THIRD consecutive year on the Soaring 76 list. Last year Hyperion Bank came in #19 on the list of private and public companies, with 47.5 percent growth. And in 2020 the bank was #34 on the list, with 39 percent growth. Hyperion’s place on this year’s Soaring list resulted from 18+ % growth over the last two years.
DeCesare adds, “as has been our stance over the nearly 16 years since we were founded, we are not comfortable to rest on our laurels. Instead, this recognition – in addition to being an opportunity to say, ‘thank you’ to our employees and customers – is a challenge of sorts for us to continue to find better and better ways to leverage technology, first-class service and the best bankers around to bring community banking to the communities we serve.”
Thank you for growing with us. YOU are the reason we do what we do – and the reason for the growth and celebration. (See complete Soaring 76 list.)
