CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - October 2026

Work continues on Phase 2 of the I-10 Express Lanes Project as crews perform roadway improvements throughout the corridor. Activities may include excavation, shoring operations, retaining wall construction, barrier installation, roadway restriping, sign relocation, and utility work.

Intermittent nighttime eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) I-10 on- and off-ramp closures, as well as intermittent freeway lane closures, will occur throughout the project corridor. Ramp closures will be staggered, and at least one freeway lane will remain open in each direction to help maintain traffic flow.

Construction will generally occur Monday through Friday during daytime (7:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m) and nighttime (9:00 p.m to 5:00 a.m).

  • Follow all construction signage
  • Stay alert for changes to the traffic patterns

ON- AND OFF-RAMPS

Intermittent nighttime closures of the following EB and WB on- and off-ramps are anticipated throughout the month. Ramp closures will be staggered so that consecutive ramps are not closed at the same time. Signed detour routes will be in place during closures.

Ramps:

Ramp closures may occur from Sunday through Thursday from 9:00 p.m to 6:00 a.m and Fridays 11:59 p.m to 6:00 a.m (the following mornings).

  • Etiwanda Avenue
  • Valley Boulevard
  • Cherry Avenue
  • Citrus Avenue
  • Sierra Avenue

Upcoming Closures:

A 55-hour closure is planned for the EB I-10 Cherry Avenue on- and off-ramps in mid-November. Further details will be shared as the closure approaches.

RETAINING AND SOUND WALLS

Construction crews will continue work on retaining walls and sound walls throughout the project corridor. Activities may include wall excavation, foundation preparation, rebar installation, concrete work, and related construction activities. Residents and motorists may notice increased construction equipment, noise, and activity in the area. Visit the Google map for specific locations.

ADJACENT PROJECT INFORMATION

The EB and WB I-10 Cedar on- and off-ramps are scheduled to be closed on consecutive Sunday nights in November for girder installation. Cedar Avenue between Valley Boulevard and Slover Avenue will also be closed.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Phase 2 of the I-10 Express Lanes Project will add new single toll (managed) lanes in areas where HOV lanes do not currently exist, providing reliable, time-saving travel options for transit, carpoolers, and zero-emission vehicles. The project also includes three eastbound and one westbound auxiliary lanes to improve traffic flow and freight movement, particularly near the heavily congested I-10/I-15 interchange. Building on the recently completed express lanes from the Los Angeles County Line to I-15, this next phase will extend the system 11.1 miles east to Pepper Avenue in Colton.
