I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project

Monthly Public Outreach and Communication Report

State Project H.004100

Project Status

The I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project in Baton Rouge is making significant progress. On May 20, crews began installing the tub girders for the new City Park Lake Bridge. The installation of the 26 girders is on track to be completed by June 7, weather permitting. Additionally, construction of the new bridge deck panels is underway, with concrete pouring anticipated in mid-July.

Painting operations have commenced on the new soundwalls, with work on the retaining walls and bridge columns to follow.

On Wednesday, May 4, May St. closed to bicycle, pedestrian, and vehicular traffic as part of infrastructure upgrades to the University Lakes Restoration Project, which is a collaborative effort between LSU and the City of Baton Rouge. May St. is anticipated to reopen Fall 2026. The E. Lakeshore Dr. closure under I-10 remains in effect for the duration of this phase of work while crews widen I-10 over City Park Lake. This portion of E. Lakeshore Dr. will not be accessible to motorists, pedestrians or bicyclists as this is an active construction site.

These activities remain ongoing from Monday to Saturday during daytime hours. Residents and motorists should anticipate increased truck traffic and daytime noise during this period.
