I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project

Monthly Public Outreach and Communication Report

State Project H.004100

Project Status

The I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project in Baton Rouge is progressing steadily. Crews continue concrete operations for the sound walls, which began early Jan. 2025, along the westbound portion of I-10 behind Baywood Ave. This work is anticipated to be completed mid-March, weather permitting.

In City Park Lake, crews continue the fabrication of the bridge pier caps and arches of the new bridge. Once these have been installed, crews will begin setting girders, which is estimated to begin early spring, weather permitting. These operations remain ongoing from Monday through Saturday during daytime hours.

While work is ongoing, residents and motorists throughout the corridor can expect to see an increase in truck traffic, as well as an increase in noise during the day.

On November 27, 2023, E. Lakeshore Dr. was closed where it passes beneath I-10 as depicted in red on the accompanying diagram. This local street will remain closed for approximately three years while crews work on the permanent widening of I-10 over City Park Lake. Northbound and southbound motorists on E. Lakeshore Dr. are advised to use Dalrymple Dr. for the duration of this closure.

This portion of E. Lakeshore Dr. will not be accessible to motorists, pedestrians or bicyclists as this is an active construction site.

Crews work diligently on the new sound walls along the westbound portion of I-10 behind Baywood Ave., part of the ongoing widening project aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing noise for nearby residents.
