I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project

Monthly Public Outreach and Communication Report

State Project H.004100

Project Status

Concrete pouring began on August 25 for a section of the new City Park Lake Bridge and will continue through early October. Once complete, crews will install deck drainage and pour concrete slab approaches at both bridge abutments.

Starting in mid/late September, pavement work will begin on the new westbound lane and shoulder from I-10 near Christian Street to City Park Lake Bridge. Preparations are also underway for paving part of the new Dalrymple Drive ramp on the west side of City Park Lake, with completion expected by late October.

As part of the University Lakes Restoration Project, a joint effort between LSU and the City of Baton Rouge, May Street closed to all traffic on Wednesday, June 4. It is scheduled to reopen in Fall 2026. The closure of E. Lakeshore Drive under I-10 remains in effect while crews widen the interstate over City Park Lake. This area is inaccessible to motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists due to active construction.

Work is ongoing Monday through Saturday during daytime hours. Residents and motorists should expect increased truck traffic and construction noise throughout this period.

City Park Lake Bridge concrete pour began Aug. 25.
