I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project

Monthly Public Outreach and Communication Report

State Project H.004100

Project Status

The I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project in Baton Rouge continues to progress. Crews are actively working on the concrete operations for the sound walls along the westbound portion of I-10 behind Baywood Ave, which started in early January 2025. This phase is expected to be completed by late-March, weather permitting.

Drainage operations will recommence for the construction of the upcoming Dalrymple ramp. Additionally, backfilling will be carried out on the abutment wall located near I-10 westbound and Dalrymple Drive.

At City Park Lake, crews are fabricating the bridge pier caps and arches for the new bridge. Once these components are installed, they will begin setting the girders, which is anticipated to start in spring. These activities are ongoing from Monday through Saturday during daytime hours. During this period, residents and motorists in the area should expect increased truck traffic and daytime noise.

On November 27, 2023, E. Lakeshore Dr. was closed where it passes beneath I-10 as depicted in red on the accompanying diagram. This local street will remain closed for approximately three years while crews work on the permanent widening of I-10 over City Park Lake. Northbound and southbound motorists on E. Lakeshore Dr. are advised to use Dalrymple Dr. for the duration of this closure.

This portion of E. Lakeshore Dr. will not be accessible to motorists, pedestrians or bicyclists as this is an active construction site.

Work continues on the new sound walls along the westbound portion of I-10 behind Baywood Ave., part of the ongoing widening project aimed at improving traffic flow and reducing noise for nearby residents.
