I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project

Monthly Public Outreach and Communication Report

State Project H.004100

Project Status

The I-10 Widening and Reconstruction Project in Baton Rouge is making steady progress. A majority of the sound wall operations have been substantially completed.

Drainage work is ongoing for the new I-10 westbound Dalrymple Dr. off-ramp. Crews have begun backfilling the abutment wall near I-10 westbound and Dalrymple Drive, as well as behind the sound walls located behind Baywood Ave.

At City Park Lake, workers are fabricating bridge pier caps and arches for the new bridge. Once these components are installed, they will start setting the girders, which is expected to begin in spring. These activities remain ongoing from Monday to Saturday during daytime hours. Residents and motorists should anticipate increased truck traffic and daytime noise during this period.

On November 27, 2023, E. Lakeshore Dr. was closed where it passes beneath I-10 as depicted in red on the accompanying diagram. This local street will remain closed for approximately three years while crews work on the permanent widening of I-10 over City Park Lake. Northbound and southbound motorists on E. Lakeshore Dr. are advised to use Dalrymple Dr. for the duration of this closure.

This portion of E. Lakeshore Dr. will not be accessible to motorists, pedestrians or bicyclists as this is an active construction site.
