BATON ROUGE – All lanes of Interstate 12 eastbound will be closed overnight at the I-10/I-12 split on Saturday, Dec. 14, so crews can complete the I-10 concrete bridge deck for the College Flyover project, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced.
I-12 eastbound will be closed at the split from 10 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Sunday. The detour route is I-10 eastbound to Essen Lane and Essen northbound to the I-12 eastbound on-ramp.
The left lane of I-10 eastbound from College Drive to the split and the left lane of I-12 eastbound from the split to Essen Lane will also be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday for the construction work. The closures are necessary to allow crews to pour a concrete deck for the new I-10 westbound bridge directly over I-12 eastbound.
Backup dates for the full closure, if needed, are Sunday, Dec. 15, and Monday, Dec. 16, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day.
Once completed, the I-10 bridge will fly over I-12 eastbound and the re-aligned I-12 westbound lanes. The I-10 flyover bridge will also carry College Drive-bound traffic from I-10 westbound to a separated exit ramp, which also will carry I-12 westbound traffic exiting at College Drive.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds drivers to drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
