ABOUT CONSTRUCTION

Construction on the I-215 University Parkway Interchange project will continue with work occurring behind k-rail (concrete barriers). During construction activities may include digging up roads for utility work, pavement and restriping work, installation of new traffic signals, traffic shifts, intermittent lane closures, and ramp closures. Workers and heavy equipment will be present throughout the project corridor, and we ask that you allow for extra time to reach your destination, as you may experience delays. There may be intermittent nighttime lane and ramp lane closures Sunday through Thursday.

For the most up-to-date project and closure information, please visit the project Google Map.

UPCOMING LANE CHANGES

As early as mid-February 2026, University Parkway will be placed into its new diverging diamond interchange (DDI) configuration. In the DDI configuration, traffic on University Parkway approaching the I-215 will switch sides at the traffic signal. After traveling past the I-215, traffic will switch back at another traffic signal.

The DDI is designed to reduce traffic congestion by removing the left-hand turn phase signal cycle, increasing capacity without adding lanes. This allows traffic to move through the interchange more efficiently. Click here to learn more.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The I-215/University Parkway Interchange project is designed to reduce delays and improve freeway access. The project will construct a diverging diamond interchange (DDI) which promotes safety, decreases congestion, and minimizes the cost of new infrastructure.
