UPDATE! CARPOOL LANE CLOSURES FOR 405 EXPRESS LANES TESTING

WHAT

Crews will begin testing the 405 Express Lanes system, and this will require closing the carpool lanes for approximately one month.

Motorists should expect significant delays and use alternate routes if possible.

During testing, motorists may see test vehicles traveling in the Express Lanes. For the safety of the traveling public and our crews, DO NOT ENTER the Express Lanes.

NB I-405 carpool lane at SR-73
NB/SB I-405 carpool lanes between SR-22 and I-605
NB/SB I-405/I-605 carpool connectors
WB/EB I-405/SR-22 carpool connectors

NB - Northbound

SB - Southbound

WB - Westbound

EB - Eastbound

Please expect significant delays. Use alternate routes if possible.

WHEN

The NB I-405 carpool lane at SR-73 closed the night of Wednesday, Oct. 25, and is anticipated to remain closed through November.

The I-405 carpool lanes between I-605 and SR-22 as well as the I-605 and SR-22 carpool connectors will close as early as 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The carpool lanes will be closed 24/7 for the duration of testing.

WHAT'S

NEXT?

Once testing is complete, the 405 Express Lanes will open to the public between SR-73 and the Orange County/LA County Line. A FasTrak transponder will be required for all vehicles to use the new 405 Express Lanes. With a switchable FasTrak transponder, vehicles with three or more are always free, two-person carpools are free off-peak, and solo drivers can choose to pay a toll to use the new Express Lanes, which replace the traditional carpool lanes.

In addition to the 405 Express Lanes, the 405 Improvement Project – a centerpiece of OCTA’s Measure M – added one regular lane in each direction, improved interchanges, and rebuilt overpasses with new bike lanes and sidewalks.

NEW! Eastbound Westminster Boulevard Closures for Utility Work and Paving

Eastbound (EB) Westminster Boulevard will close nightly between Springdale Street and the southbound (SB) I-405 on-ramp from Westminster for utility work and paving.

The EB Westminster closures are anticipated as early as 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, to Saturday, Nov. 4.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

405 Express Lanes

REMINDER! Crews are performing utility work and installing equipment for testing the new 405 Express Lanes. This work requires intermittent nighttime lane reductions on northbound and southbound I-405.

Ongoing lane reductions are anticipated as early as 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on weeknights and weekends, as needed.

Please be advised that this work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Northbound I-405

NEW! Crews are placing rock blanket along northbound (NB) I-405, between Goldenwest Street and Westminster Boulevard. This work must be done at night because it requires lane reductions.

Activities began last week and are anticipated to continue 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, Nov. 10.

Please be advised that this work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Newland Street

NEW! Crews will inspect a waterline, and this will require an inside lane closures on northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) Newland Street bridge over I-405.

The NB and SB daytime lane reductions are anticipated as early as 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Wednesday, Nov. 1.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

Fairview Road

REMINDER! Crews are constructing the remainder of the block wall along northbound (NB) Fairview Road, at I-405. This work requires daytime lane reductions on NB Fairview between McCormack Lane to approximately the southbound I-405 on-ramp from Fairview.

The 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daytime lane reductions are expected to continue through early November.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
