UPDATE! Full Freeway Closure to Continue
Brookhurst Street Bridge Demolition

Crews will continue demolishing the old portion of the Brookhurst Street bridge over I-405 this weekend. This work will require a full freeway closure.

Northbound (NB) I-405 will be closed between the NB I-405 off-ramp to Euclid Street and the NB I-405 on-ramp from Brookhurst. Southbound (SB) I-405 will be closed between the SB I-405 off-ramp to Brookhurst and the SB I-405 on-ramp from Talbert Avenue.

The NB I-405 closure is anticipated as early as 11 p.m. Saturday, March 5, to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, March 6.

Some freeway ramps will also be closed.

Crews will close the SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Brookhurst Street for approximately six weeks to accommodate the freeway widening.

The ramp is anticipated to close as early as 10 p.m. Monday, March 14, for approximately six weeks.

COMING SOON! Southbound (SB) I-405 Goldenwest Street On-Ramp and Bolsa Avenue Off-Ramp to Close
Crews will close the SB I-405 loop off-ramp to Bolsa Avenue and the SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Goldenwest Street to accommodate the freeway widening.

The SB I-405 loop off-ramp to Bolsa is anticipated to close in mid-March for approximately two months.

The SB I-405 loop on-ramp from Goldenwest is also anticipated to close in mid-March for approximately four months.

The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide detailed schedule, closure and detour information in future alerts.

REMINDER! Northbound I-405 Warner Avenue On- and Off-Ramps Closed for Approximately 45 Days

Crews closed the NB I-405 on-ramp from Warner Avenue and the NB I-405 loop off-ramp to Warner on Wednesday, Feb. 23, to accommodate the freeway widening.

The ramp is anticipated to reopen after approximately 45 days.
NEW! Northbound (NB) I-405 Closure for Falsework Removal
Crews will remove falsework from the Fairview Road bridge over I-405. This work will require a NB I-405 closure between the NB I-405 off-ramp to South Coast Drive and the NB I-405 on-ramp from Hyland Avenue.

The NB I-405 closure is set for 11 p.m. Friday, March 4, to 7 a.m. Saturday, March 6.

The NB I-405/SR-73 connector will also close at 11 p.m.

Crews will close SB I-405 between the SB I-405 off-ramp to Harbor Boulevard and the SB I-405 on-ramp from Bristol Street to install the falsework for the SB I-405/SR-73 connector bridge.

The nightly SB I-405 closures are ongoing 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Friday, March 11, on weeknights.

Crews closed the southbound (SB) I-405 on-ramp from Seal Beach Boulevard on Wednesday, Feb. 2, to accommodate the freeway widening.

The ramp is anticipated to reopen later this week.

I-405 Off-Ramp to Goldenwest Street/Westminster Mall Road Closed for Approximately Six Weeks

Crews closed the southbound (SB) I-405 off-ramp to Goldenwest Street/Westminster Mall Road on Monday, Jan. 31, to accommodate the freeway widening.

The ramp is anticipated to reopen after approximately four more weeks.
REMINDER! Westbound (WB) SR-22 On-Ramp from Old Ranch Parkway Closure to Extend for Approximately Six Weeks

Crews closed the Old Ranch Parkway on-ramp to WB SR-22 on April 13, 2021. The ramp will be closed for an additional six weeks due to unforeseen site conditions, to address complexities with traffic staging, and to accommodate the freeway widening.

The ramp is anticipated to reopen in spring 2022.

REMINDER! Crews will begin demolishing the concrete barrier of the old Springdale Street bridge in the center median of the freeway.

The work is anticipated to begin as early as Wednesday, March 2, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately two weeks on weekdays.

Intermittent nighttime lane reductions on I-405 are anticipated to load out materials.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

NEW! Crews will shift K-rail and restripe lanes on Beach Boulevard between Edinger Avenue and McFadden Avenue. This work will require lane reductions on Beach.

NEW! Crews are demolishing the concrete barrier and columns from the old Newland Street bridge in the center median of the freeway.

The work is ongoing, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately two weeks on weekdays.

REMINDER! Crews will install piles for the foundation of a sound wall along southbound (SB) I-405, adjacent to homes that are near the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge.

The foundation consists of 42 cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles. Crews will use an auger to drill large holes, install forms and steel cages and pour concrete into the holes to form the piles. 

Following these activities, crews will begin constructing the footing, placing rebar, and pouring concrete to construct the wall.

The pile installation is ongoing, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately three more weeks on weekdays, and Saturdays, as needed.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.

REMINDER! Crews are working on the foundation of the southbound (SB) I-405/SR-73 HOV connector bridge. The foundation consists of 8 cast-in-drilled hole (CIDH) and 35 steel pipe piles.

The CIDH activity includes installing large-diameter casings approximately 200 feet into the ground.

The steel pipe piles will be driven into the soil until reaching a hard layer of earth beneath the structure foundation.

Pile installation activities are ongoing and will continue 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and weekends, as needed, through Spring 2022.

Daytime and nighttime lane reductions on SB I-405, between
SR-73 and Bear Street are anticipated to support the work.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. as needed.
