UPDATE! Warner Avenue Bridge Demolition

Crews will continue to demolish the Warner Avenue bridge over two Saturday nights, under a full freeway closure and freeway lane reductions.

Additional nighttime demolition will occur for several weeks under freeway lane closures on weekdays. Some daytime demolition also is anticipated.

The NB and SB I-405 freeway closures are set for 11 p.m. Saturday, June 12 to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 13.

Demolition is also anticipated under freeway lane reductions for 11 p.m. Saturday, June 19 to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, June 20.

REMINDER! Heil Avenue Pedestrian Bridge Falsework Installation Activities

Crews will continue falsework installation for the Heil pedestrian bridge over the I-405. This work requires full NB and SB I-405 closures.

  • 11 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 to 5:30 a.m. Thursday, June 10

SB closures:
  • 11 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. nightly Monday, June 14 to Friday, June 18

UPDATE! Bolsa Chica Road Girder Installation

Crews will continue to perform girder installation work for the Bolsa Chica Road bridge over I-405. The girders are the main horizontal support beams and are part of the superstructure.

This work will require SB and NB full freeway, lane, SB Bolsa Chica Road, and ramp closures.

Night One
  • SB freeway closure is set for as early as 11 p.m. Thursday, June 10, to 5 a.m. Friday, June 11. 
  • SB Bolsa Chica and SB loop on-ramp closures are set for 10 p.m. Thursday, June 10, to 5 a.m. Friday, June 11.

UPDATE! Bolsa Avenue Traffic Switch

Crews will advance preparation work for the Bolsa Avenue traffic switch, which will require nightly closures of Bolsa between Goldenwest Street and Chestnut Street.

Activities include electrical, utility, and drainage work.

The Bolsa closures are set for 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, June 14, and continue nightly through Thursday, June 17.

Crews are scheduled to switch traffic to the new portion of the Bolsa Avenue bridge. This work is in anticipation of the upcoming demolition of the old portion of the Bolsa bridge, and will require a full closure of Bolsa between Goldenwest Street and Chestnut Street.

Activities include asphalt removal, excavation, pavement work, and striping, and K-rail modifications.

The Bolsa closure is scheduled for 10 p.m. Friday, June 18 to 5 a.m. Monday, June 21.

UPDATE! NB I-405 Loop Off-Ramp to Bolsa Avenue to Close for Approximately Three Months

Crews will close the NB I-405 loop off-ramp to Bolsa for approximately three months as early as Friday, June 18 to accommodate the freeway widening.

Activities include removal of the existing ramp, excavation, placement
and compaction of base material, rebar and concrete work, paving,
drainage installation, electrical work and striping.

The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide detailed schedule information in future alerts.

REMINDER! Eastbound (EB) Lane Reductions for McFadden Avenue Bridge Monument Work
Crews will continue constructing the McFadden bridge monument over I-405. This work will require EB lane reductions on McFadden between Pacific Street and Gothard Street.

Lane reductions are ongoing for approximately two weeks. Daytime works hours are anticipated 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and nighttime work hours are anticipated 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
REMINDER! Partial I-405 Freeway Lane Reductions for Excavation Work for Goldenwest Street Bridge
Crews will perform excavation work and pile installation in the center median of the Goldenwest Street bridge over the I-405. This work will require partial lane reductions of the I-405 freeway between Bolsa Avenue and Goldenwest.

The partial I-405 lane closures are ongoing 5 a.m. to 12 p.m., for approximately one month.
REMINDER! Westbound (WB) SR-22 On-Ramp from Old Ranch Parkway Closed for Approximately 8 Months

Crews closed the Old Ranch Parkway on-ramp to the WB SR-22 on April 13, for approximately 8 months to accommodate the freeway widening.

Activities include demolition, excavation, grading, drainage and electrical system installation, concrete pours and asphalt paving.

  • Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m.
  • Nighttime work hours are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
REMINDER! Euclid Street Closures for Drainage Work

Crews will continue installing a new drainage system across Euclid. This work will require Euclid closures between the freeway ramps and Mount Washington Street.

This closure is anticipated for 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the nights of:
  • Wednesday, June 9 through Friday, June 11

Additionally, crews will perform pavement work on Ellis Avenue. This work will require a SB lane reduction of Euclid between I-405 and Pacific Street.

SB Euclid lane reduction is set for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, June 11.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m.
REMINDER! Sidewalk Closures on Seal Beach Boulevard for Signal Work

Crews closed the sidewalks at the intersection of Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson Avenue for permanent traffic signal construction.

Activities include the removal of existing sidewalk ramps, installation of new sidewalk ramps, electrical and foundation work.

Permanent traffic signal construction began Tuesday, June 1, and will continue for approximately six weeks on weekdays.

Daytime work hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Seal Beach Boulevard and Lampson will be intermittently reduced to two lanes at the intersection for the duration of the work.

Nighttime temporary traffic signal removal and permanent pole installation are anticipated in early-July.

Crews closed the NB I-405 and SR-73 off-ramps to Fairview on April 5, 2021, for approximately 100 days to accommodate the freeway widening.

Demolition is anticipated to continue through next week. Work hours are scheduled for weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m.

Work is staged from the freeway to the extent possible.

What's Next?
Crews will begin drainage system installation and excavation in advance of wall construction. Following this work, crews will begin working on the foundation of the wall. This foundation consists of cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) pile installation.
REMINDER! Crews will continue to work on the foundation of a wall along the NB I-405 off-ramp to Brookhurst Street.

  • Ongoing 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately two weeks.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m. and some activities may occur at night.

REMINDER! Crews will continue working on the foundation of the wall along SB I-405, south of Bolsa Ave.

REMINDER! Crews began working on the foundation of the retaining wall adjacent to Buckingham Park along the NB I-405 near Edwards bridge. The foundation consists of approximately 51 CIDH piles.

  • Ongoing 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, approximately through mid-June.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activity may occur at night.

UPDATE! Crews are scheduled to backfill and grade for the retaining wall along NB Fairview Road, south of the on-ramp to SB I-405 and SB SR-73.

This work will require intermittent lane reductions on NB and SB Fairview between McCormack Lane and freeway ramps, which can only be done at night.

Crews are anticipated to begin backfill and grading for the retaining wall along NB Fairview as early as Thursday, June 10 to Friday, June 11.

Work hours are 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., as needed. Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m.

COMING SOON! Sidewalk, curb and gutter work along Milan between approximately Stratford Avenue and Lowell Circle has been postponed to June.

The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide detailed schedule information in future alerts. 
REMINDER! Crews will begin restoration work at Milton Street. This work will require intermittent lane reductions in both directions. Parking will be unavailable between Hope Lutheran Church and Willow Lane.

Activities include drainage system installation, curb, gutter, sidewalk and concrete work,

  • Ongoing for approximately two weeks.

Daytime work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with crews mobilizing as early as 6 a.m.
REMINDER! Crews will continue work on new retaining walls along the SB I-405 connector to SB SR-73 to accommodate the freeway widening. Activities include removal of existing retaining walls, excavation, and shoring installation.

Daytime work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with crews mobilizing as early as 6 a.m. Nighttime work hours will be from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

This work is anticipated to continue on weekdays and Saturdays for approximately three weeks. Nighttime work is anticipated to occur throughout this duration, as needed.
