Work is complete on the northern 2 miles of the Kennedy Expressway (Interstate 90/94) in Chicago, meaning 70 percent of the work scheduled for this construction season is complete.
Work continues the outbound Kennedy between Addison Street and the Ohio Street feeder. The overall project remains on pace to be completed by Thanksgiving, with all lanes and ramps reopening and the express lanes resuming normal operations. The inbound lanes were completed in 2023, with the express lanes finished last construction season.
The public should expect significant delays and allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, follow any detours and remain alert for workers and equipment. Also, the reversible express lanes will remain open in the outbound direction. The reversible mid-gate entrance and exits will remain closed.
