CLOSURE AND DETOUR OF I-64 WEST BETWEEN EXITS 273 AND 272 RESCHEDULED FOR JULY 28 FROM 1 TO 5 A.M. FOR OVERHEAD SIGN INSTALLATION

Date for the planned closure updated due to the forecasted weather.

NORFOLK – Crews performing Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project construction work have scheduled a temporary closure of I-64 west near 4th View Street (exit 273) to install new sign structures over the interstate. This operation will require the full closure of both lanes of I-64 west at 4th View Street on Sunday, July 28 beginning at 1:00 a.m. and ending by 5:00 a.m.

Motorists traveling on I-64 west will be detoured off the interstate at exit 273 4th View Street. From the exit, motorists should follow the posted detour route which will be clearly marked on I-64 west and the City of Norfolk streets.

  • Take exit 273 4th View Street
  • Turn right onto 4th View Street
  • Turn left onto W. Ocean View Avenue
  • Make a U-turn after 15th View Street
  • Take the on-ramp to I-64 west

Motorists should expect delays and allow extra travel time for the detour route.

All construction schedules are subject to change due to impending weather or other unexpected circumstances. Construction updates and lane closure alerts can be found at HRBTexpansion.org.
