Lane Closures

Aug. 4-11

Alternating, single-lane closures on I-64 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the following locations:

• I-64 in both directions from the Bowers Hill interchange to Shell Road (approximate mile marker 295) Aug. 4
• I-64 west on the High Rise Bridge Aug. 7-10
• I-64 east from Great Bridge Boulevard (overpass) to I-464 (exit 291) Aug.10

Overnight closure and detour of the I-64 west off-ramp to Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292A) Aug. 6-13 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

Motorists traveling on I-64 west toward Virginia Beach should use the detour listed below:

• Exit 291A to I-464 north
• Exit 1 to I-64 east
• Exit 291B to Route 168 south
• Right exit to Great Bridge Boulevard

Overnight closure and detour of Great Bridge Boulevard at the I-64 overpass (between Tennyson Street and Libertyville Road/Finck Lane) Aug. 6-13 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists should follow the detour below. Detour information will also be designated with signage along the roadway.

Traveling south on Great Bridge Boulevard:

• Right on Booker Street
• Left on Bainbridge Boulevard
• Left on Dominion Boulevard
• End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Boulevard

Traveling north on Great Bridge Boulevard:

• Left on Dominion Boulevard
• Right on Bainbridge Boulevard
• End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Boulevard

Overnight closure and detour of the I-64 west off-ramp to South Military Highway (exit 297A) Aug. 6 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists should follow the detour below:

Overnight closure of the Military Highway on-ramp to I-64 west Aug. 6 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists traveling on Military Highway should continue to George Washington Highway and take a right on George Washington Highway to access the I-64 on-ramp.

Overnight closure of the I-664 south off-ramp to I-64 west (exit 15B) Aug. 7-8 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. 

Motorists should follow the detour below. Detour information will also be designated with signage along the roadway. 

• Continue on I-664 south
• Exit to I-264 east (exit 15A)
• Take the cloverleaf loops at Greenwood Drive west (exit 2B) to transition back to I-264 west
• Take the left exit to I-64 west (Chesapeake - Virginia Beach)

Overnight closure and detour of the I-64 west off-ramp to George Washington Highway north (exit 296A) on Aug. 7-10 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists should follow the detour below:

Motorists can expect daytime flagging operations on the Great Bridge Boulevard bridge (over I-64) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday through the end of August.
