Upcoming Scheduled Lane and Ramp Closures

Feb. 9-16

Motorists can anticipate the following scheduled lane and ramp closures below as contractor crews perform temperature-sensitive work, such as final surface asphalt paving and paving markings, during favorable daytime temperatures. All construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Motorists can anticipate the following daytime single-lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.:

  • I-64 west from South Military Highway (exit 297) to Bowers Hill (exit 299) Feb. 12
  • I-64 west at Battlefield Boulevard CD access lane (near exit 290) Feb. 12 

Daytime flagging operations on Tennyson Road at Great Bridge Boulevard near the I-64 overpass Feb. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Motorists can anticipate the following overnight lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Single-lane closure on I-64 west from the High Rise Bridge to Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292) Feb. 9
  • Multi-lane closure on I-64 east from Bowers Hill to Shell Road (approximate mile marker 295) Feb. 11-18
  • Multi-lane closure on I-64 west from Shell Road (approximate mile marker 295) to Battlefield Boulevard (exit 290) Feb. 13-16
  • Multi-lane closure on I-64 west from Battlefield Boulevard (exit 290) to the High Rise Bridge Feb. 13-14

Motorists should also anticipate the following scheduled overnight closures and detours:



Overnight closure and detour of the on-ramp from George Washington Highway north to I-64 east Feb. 9 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Motorists should follow the detour below.

17 George Washington Highway N to 64E

Overnight closure and detour of the off-ramp from I-64 west to Route 168/Chesapeake Expressway Feb. 9-10 and Feb 16-17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Motorists should use the cloverleaf detour below.

Exit 292 64 west to 168 Chesapeake Freeway

Overnight detour and closure of the off-ramp from I-64 east to George Washington Highway north (exit 296A) Feb. 9-10 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.



Motorists should follow the signed detour, using exit 297 to Military Highway and turn onto George Washington Highway.

64 E to George Washington Highway 17 North exit 296A

Overnight closure and detour of the on-ramp from Battlefield Boulevard south to I-64 west Feb. 9-10 and Feb. 16-17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Motorists should follow the signed detour along Battlefield Boulevard to Volvo Parkway, following the roundabout to Battlefield Boulevard north and taking the on-ramp to I-64 west.

Overnight closure and detour of the off-ramp from I-64 west to Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292A) Feb. 13-14 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. 


Motorists traveling on I-64 west (toward Virginia Beach) should use the detour listed below:

  • Exit 291A to I-464 north
  • Exit 1 to I-64 east
  • Exit 291B to Route 168 south
  • Right exit to Great Bridge Boulevard


64 west to Great Bridge Boulevard Exit 292

Overnight closure and detour of Great Bridge Boulevard at the I-64 overpass (between Tennyson Street and Libertyville Road/Finck Lane) Feb. 13-14 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.


Motorists should follow the detours below. Signed detours will be in place.

  

Traveling south on Great Bridge Boulevard:

  • Right on Booker Street
  • Left on Bainbridge Boulevard
  • Left on Dominion Boulevard
  • End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Boulevard

 

Traveling north on Great Bridge Boulevard:

  • Left on Dominion Boulevard
  • Right on Bainbridge Boulevard
  • End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Boulevard
