Lane Closures

Nov. 6-12

Motorists can expect alternating, single-lane closures on I-64 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. at the following locations:

• I-64 west from the High Rise Bridge to Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292), Nov. 6-9 
• I-64 east from Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292) to the High Rise Bridge, Nov. 7-12

Motorists can expect alternating, multi-lane closures on I-64 east from Battlefield Boulevard (exit 290) to I-464 (exit 291) on Nov. 6 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. and Nov. 7 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists can expect overnight, multi-lane closures on I-64 west between the High Rise Bridge and Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292) on Nov. 11, beginning as early as 7 p.m. until 5 a.m., with brief, intermittent stoppages (up to 20 minutes each) between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. as crews install new overhead signage. 

Overnight ramp closure on I-64 west to Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292), Nov. 6 (contingency date Nov. 7) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.



Motorists traveling on I-64 west toward Virginia Beach should use the detour listed below.

• Exit 291A to I-464 north
• Exit 1 to I-64 east
• Exit 291B to Route 168 south
• Right exit to Great Bridge Boulevard

Overnight ramp closure on Great Bridge Boulevard at the I-64 overpass, Nov. 6 (contingency date Nov. 7) from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists should follow the detour listed below.

Traveling south on Great Bridge Boulevard:

• Right on Booker Street
• Left on Bainbridge Boulevard
• Left on Dominion Boulevard
• End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Boulevard

Traveling north on Great Bridge Boulevard:

• Left on Dominion Boulevard
• Right on Bainbridge Boulevard
• End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Blvd

Overnight ramp closure on I-64 east to Military Highway (exit 297), Nov. 7 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Motorists should continue on I-64 east toward Suffolk and follow the detour signs back to I-64 west. 

Overnight ramp closure on I-64 west to Battlefield Boulevard south (exit 290B), Nov. 7 from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.

Motorists traveling on I-64 west should follow detour signs utilizing exit 290A and follow the cloverleaf to access Battlefield Boulevard south.

Overnight ramp closure on I-64 east to I-464 north (exit 291A), Nov. 12-13 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists should continue on I-64 east to exit 291B and follow the detour signs using the cloverleaf to I-464 north. 

Overnight ramp closure on I-64 east to I-464 south (exit 291B), Nov. 12-13 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists should use the detour listed below.

• Take exit 291A to I-464 north
• Take exit 2 to Military Highway
• Take a left on Military Highway
• Take the on-ramp to I-464 south

Continuous, weekend closures of I-64 west ramp to Route 168 south/Chesapeake Expressway from 9 p.m. on Nov. 11 to 5 a.m. on Nov. 14

Motorists should use the detour listed below.

• Continue on I-64 west
• Take exit 291A to I-464 north
• Take exit 2 to Military Highway
• Take a left on Military Highway
• Take the on-ramp to I-464 south
• Exit to Route 168 south/Chesapeake Expressway
