I-64 Southside Widening and High Rise Bridge Expansion Project
Overnight Closure of Great Bridge Boulevard at the I-64 Overpass,
Saturday, Sept. 11

Great Bridge Boulevard between Tennyson Street and the I-64 off-ramp will be closed to all traffic beginning as early as 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, through 9 a.m. the following day.

Motorists should follow the detour below. Detour information will also be designated with signage along the roadway.

GREAT BRIDGE BOULEVARD DETOUR

Traveling South on Great Bridge Boulevard
  • Right on Booker Street
  • Left on Bainbridge Boulevard
  • Left on Dominion Boulevard
  • End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Boulevard

Traveling North on Great Bridge Boulevard
  • Left on Dominion Boulevard
  • Right on Bainbridge Boulevard
  • End detour and turn left/right on Great Bridge Boulevard
Overnight Closure of I-64 West Off-Ramp (Exit 292A) to Great Bridge Boulevard, Saturday, Sept. 11

The ramp from I-64 west to Great Bridge Boulevard (exit 292A) will be closed beginning at 9 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 11, through 9 a.m., on Sunday, Sept 12.

Motorists traveling on I-64 west towards Virginia Beach should follow detour signs utilizing:

  • Exit 291A to I-464 north
  • Exit 1 to I-64 east
  • Exit 291B to southbound Route 168
  • Right exit to Great Bridge Boulevard
  • End Detour on Great Bridge Boulevard
Overnight Detour on I-64 West Off-Ramp (Exit 291B), Sept. 13-16
Motorists should be prepared for an overnight detour of Exit 291B from I-64 west, Sept. 13-16, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Motorists traveling on I-64 west should use the following detour:
  • Exit to Route 168/I-464 south
  • Exit to I-464 north
  • Right onto I-64 east
  • Continue straight to Route 164/I-464
  • End Detour
Overnight Detour on Northbound Military Highway at the I-64 Overpass

Motorists should be prepared for overnight detours on northbound Military Highway between the I-64 on- and off-ramps, Sept. 16, and Sept. 19-20, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Motorists should follow the detours below. Detour information will also be designated with signage along the roadway.
Traveling North on Military Highway

  • Right to on-ramp to I-64 west towards Virginia Beach
  • Take exit 296 to George Washington Highway
  • Turn left on George Washington Highway
  • Take the on-ramp to I-64 east towards Suffolk
  • Take exit 297 to Military Highway
