Motorists traveling on I-64 west towards Virginia Beach should take exit 297 to Military Highway and follow detour signs to turn right on George Washington Highway.
Slight Traffic Shift on I-64 west between Yadkin Road overpass and George Washington Highway overpass, beginning as early as Tuesday morning, Jan. 18

Motorists traveling on I-64 west (towards Virginia Beach) should expect a slight lane shift next week near the Yadkin Road overpass (approximate mile marker 297) to the George Washington Highway overpass (approximate mile marker 296). Travel lanes will be shifted to the left to enable work on the existing lanes and outside shoulder. This traffic shift will not impact eastbound (towards Suffolk) traffic.

The traffic shift will be in place as early as Tuesday morning, Jan 18 weather permitting. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times during daytime hours, with single lane closures and a detour of exit 296 at night to facilitate this shift.
All construction schedules are pending, due to weather or unforeseen circumstances. Changes to the schedule will be updated on the project website traffic alerts page.
