WORK IS RAMPING UP

We are entering the second year of construction on the I-84, Karcher Interchange project. Expect to see more construction activities as it gets warmer.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Nighttime closures (10 p.m. to 5 a.m.) with one lane in each direction on SH-55 and I-84
• Full nighttime closures of I-84 for girder placement and final traffic shift
• Some bike lanes and sidewalks closures, click here to see the detour map
• Delays during peak hours

Warmer weather allows us to get more work done and keep the project moving through the second year of construction. Construction is expected to wrap up this fall.

The speed limit on I-84 is 55 MPH.

Drive with caution in work zones to help keep our crews safe.

Improvements being built include:

• Adding a free running right hand turn at the westbound off-ramp
• Paving a third westbound lane on Karcher Road (SH-55) from the westbound off-ramp to Sundance Road
• Reinforcing the Karcher Interchange and Indian Creek bridges to support the new lane
• Updating signal equipment and adding a pedestrian flashing beacon at the eastbound on-ramp
• Building a detached, mixed-use path on the north side of SH-55

Plan ahead, slow down, and pay attention!

What's happening in the work zone is interesting and it can be tempting to look while driving by. Do your best to minimize these distractions and stay alert. Check out the project website and our monthly update videos to see what crews are up to!
