Modifications to I-84 Exit 33 in Nampa begin Wednesday, July 24, 2019
The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is increasing the shoulder width on the exit ramp to give large trucks more room to make right turns onto Karcher Blvd.
During the modification, one southbound lane on Midland Blvd will be closed at the Karcher Bypass intersection and one right-turn lane at the exit 33 ramp will be closed. Work will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to avoid peak commuter traffic hours and is expected to be complete by the second week of August.
ITD, in coordination with the City of Nampa, completed operational improvements to the interchange last summer, including the following:
  • Eliminating exit 33B and adding lanes at exit 33A/Midland Blvd
  • Adding a second southbound lane to Midland Blvd
  • Adding a second left-turn lane from the Karcher Bypass to southbound Midland Blvd
  • Upgrading sidewalks and traffic signals
Large semi-trucks and trailers were having difficulty making the right turn and staying in the correct lane. The modifications will eliminate the issue.
