ITD will begin pile driving and retaining wall construction in September/October. These activities will not have major impacts on traffic. Here is what to expect.
Upcoming I-90 Construction
Pile driving
In the next few weeks, ITD will begin pile driving again.

Pile driving is a necessary part of bridge foundations. The process of pile driving involves pounding a steel pipe into the ground until the pipe reaches a hard layer.

Crews will be working to drive 80 piles for several bridge foundations.

What to expect:

  • Pile driving will take place during the day in the I-90 median.
  • Work will be noisy.
Each pile will use a 20-inch diameter shell and go approximately 50 feet underground.
Retaining wall
You will also see crews building a retaining wall along I-90 from the new interchange for approximately 700 ft. to the east.

The retaining wall will retain the slope (earth) between eastbound and westbound I-90.
Upcoming Seltice Way Construction
Traffic shift

This week SH-41 and Ross Point Road traffic will be shifted to the western half of the SH-41/Ross Point Road/Seltice Way intersection.

What to expect:

  • Traffic patterns on Seltice Way will not change.
  • SH-41 at the I-90 underpass will be closed for one night on Wednesday, September 20 from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. to shift the intersection.
