I Am Thankful
For All You Do
While working for the Census I attended a church and the word for that day was "thankful". I remember listening to the speaker expound how we have so much to be thankful about. With Thanksgiving Day imminent I couldn't help but reflect on this powerful word. Yet sometimes we miss the opportunity to express how grateful we are to those who give so much.
With the planning of Oh Break Out, I unequivocally know if it weren't for others who work tirelessly to ensure the success of the event there is no way I could do it. They do it without compensation. I know sometimes I can be demanding and it appears as though I'm not grateful for all that is done, but I am immensely thankful for their help.
You see an undertaking like Oh Break Out requires a lot of planning and coordination down to the smallest detail, not to mention the monetary expense. Although I work like crazy leading up to Oh Break Out, everyone knows the day of the event I totally turn the reins over to them. There is no way I could do that without them working alongside me every step of the way.
Lord knows I don't know what I would have done without them. Yes, I could wait to thank each of them, but why not do it now. It is the season to be thankful. I know that Nita (Juanita) Billings is probably tired of me along with my brother who continually tries to remove himself from the graphics design team, but to no avail. We work well together (My opinion probably not his).
All in all, each of them gives so much for the success of this event. I'm amazed at all we do with such small resources. Some say that I push too hard. As I tell them, "I don't push them nearly as hard as I push myself." You see, they only have a short time to be with me. I'm with me all the time!
All in all, it is something to be said about thanking those who labor with you. It is something to be said for those who encourage you, like my pastors Bishop Steve & Lady Valorie Bennett and so many others. It is something to be said for those who donate to the vision God has given, not just money but professional expertise like Debra Collins. It is something to be said for those who because of health reasons, like my sister Patricia, can't do all she has done in the past but keeps me grounded. Yes it is something to be said about each of them.
That something is simply, "Thank you."
This year as I celebrate Thanksgiving I will give thanks to God for placing each person in my life who has provided encouragement, their sweat and tears and money so Oh Break Out can be a success. I'm thankful to those who will travel here just to do their part. I'm thankful for every speaker, singer, dancer, entertainer and musician who said yes they would be part of Oh Break Out. I'm thankful for every sponsor and vendor. I'm thankful for everyone who will register and attend. I'm thankful for our liaison at the Radisson Hotel who served us as though she was truly a part of the Oh Break Out team.
Most importantly, I'm thankful to my Father, Almighty God, who placed this vision inside of me. Who stretches me and this year has been an awesome year of stretching. I'm thankful because it is during His stretching that I become even closer to Him and my faith and trust in Him escalates exponentially. It is because of His stretching that I emerge with new skills, more confidence and a new-found respect for the strength that lies within me.
Simply stated, I thank each of you who supports the efforts of this ministry. In turn, make sure you thank all of those in your life who supports you and all you do.
