Dear Tory,
Peace and Greetings to you!
HAPPY 52nd ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND MILWAUKEE METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY CHURCH!
We’re reminded each year at this time, that like many other Metropolitan Community Churches around the world, it all started for us in the living room. And for us it started in a living room at 2024 West Highland Avenue, with twelve people gathering. Under the pastorate of Revered Paul W. Sydman, who was sent from the Good Shepherd MCC Congregation in Chicago to Milwaukee, brought the LGBTQ+ Community the Message of Metropolitan Community Church and God's All-Inclusive Love!
Now, fifty-two years later, several locations later, several pastors later, and a few names changes, Milwaukee Metropolitan Community Church, continues to bring that Good News of God’s Inclusive Love to the Greater Milwaukee LGBTQ+ Community. Additionally, we continue to be the oldest existing LGBT based organization here in the state of Wisconsin, we also were the first LGBTQI+ based organization to acquire and own property in our great state.
Along with all the celebrating that we will do over this weekend, we will also take a moment Sunday to pause and remember, along with honoring our transgender siblings. We will take time to remember the hundreds of trans and gender-diverse people who were reported killed in 2023. As we take this time to remember, we will remember those who have been victims of violence and discriminations around the world who have struggled with hatred and violence, all to seek equality and justice for their acknowledgement of how God’s love transcends beyond gender and gender identity.
Speaking of Celebrations, a reminder that you can still join and attend our Annual Anniversary Fundraiser, tomorrow evening, Saturday, November 19th, in the SKYY Lounge at American Family Field. You can still take advantage of the early bird single ticket rate of $50, through midnight tonight. Otherwise, if you decide at the last minute that you would like to attend, we will have limited tickets available at the door for $60.
Our celebration continues Sunday morning at 11:00am, as we continue our series: I LOVE MY CHURCH, where we have been taking time to look and confirm our love for our community of faith through our serving, giving and sharing. I invite you to join us this Sunday for worship at 11:00am, as we continue our series, with why I Love My Church by GIVING! And make sure you complete Anniversary Sunday in joining us following worship at our SPECIAL ANNIVERSARY EDITION of BRUNCH WITH THE PASTOR, at Bridgewater Modern Grill. See details below.
We have so much to be grateful for in the life of our church and community as we also approach Thanksgiving next week. While this is considered the month of giving as well as the month to show our gratitude, we have extended our Winter Madness Clothing Drive through our annual meeting on December 3, 2023. You can still bring in warm clothing such as sock, hats and scarfs, gloves and ear warmers, and place them in the huge brown barrel in the Narthex. Also be reminded that this Sunday is our Third Sunday of the Month Second Offering, where we have an opportunity to further giving to our Church Asset Protection 2023 Capital Campaign. Details on how you can give to the Capital Campaign can be found below.
As always, please take a moment to scroll down for the many other special announcements in the life of our congregation and community, as we continue to be the vibrant, inclusive, and progressive community of faith that we are.
I look forward to seeing you Sunday Morning!

Scripture: Acts 4:32-35
The community of believers was of one mind and one heart. None of them
claimed anything as their own; rather, everything was held in common. The
apostles continued to testify with great power to the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
and they were all given great respect; nor was anyone needy among them,
for those who owned property or houses would sell them and give the money
to the apostles. It was then distributed to any members who might be in need.

Amazing Faith Dinner Dialogues
November 29th - 6:00pm
Our first Amazing Faith Dinner
Dialogue was well attended with over 80 people in attendance. People of all faiths and no faith, all spiritualties
and theologies gathered in small groups to share a meal and participate in a moderated discussion using a proven model, evoking deep
exchanges about lived experiences and the role of faith and/or spirituality in their lives. Through exploration and dialogue, participants learn about
the beliefs and traditions of others within an atmosphere of respect and understanding and are empowered
to stand as witnesses for tolerance
and inclusion.
You are invited to join the next dialogue dinner next month.
Come Change your life. Change
the world.
Dinner dialogues will be held on the last Wednesday of the month from
6-8pm.
The OCTOBER Dialogue Dinner will be held at the Bay View United Methodist Church. Sign-ups are available by
clicking here to REGISTER.
Future dinners’ registrations will be available the day following the current and are scheduled to occur on the last Wednesday of each month.

Church Asset Protection “CAP”
2023 Capital Campaign
|
We are excited to be in the midst our Church Asset Protection campaign, CAP for short, our Capital Campaign fundraiser to help raise funds for repairs, on the church building.
Maybe you worship with us occasionally, or every Sunday. You may participate in or support one of the many programs we provide in the Milwaukee community.
For more than fifty years your support has allowed us to be one of the first LGBTQ+ organizations to own a building. We are proud that with so much support we can also report we own the property free of any mortgage or debt. With this great blessing comes the great responsibility of maintaining the building.
Over the last several years we have been able to replace the HVAC and all but three of the old wooden windows. The inside of the building has been refreshed and all repairs have been completed. Now we find ourselves with many needed repairs to the outside of the building.
Our Church Asset Protection campaign helps raise funds to complete necessary repairs to our building that provides us the foundation to provide these support services. The funds will be used to complete the following:
- The two chimneys need to be removed. A new roof needs to be installed.
- The flat roof in the back of the building is pulling away from the side of the building and needs to be repaired.
- The gutters are original from when they were attached to the city storm sewers and needed to be replaced and the rotting wood behind them repaired.
- The last three wooden windows need to be replaced.
- Lastly, the attic insulation needs to be replaced.
So, how can you help?
- Donate to the campaign
- Donate your time to help complete the repairs.
- Share the campaign with friends and family to help us achieve our goal more quickly.
- Do all 3!
Whichever you choose, your support is meaningful and makes an impact! For your convenience you can make your donation online by clicking on:
