Psalm 91:1-16 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Beloved, if you just read and reread the above Psalm-if that is all today's sermon you read-that is more than enough!!

In a conversation yesterday a dear friend, (is there any other kind?). Remarked to me their FEAR of contracting a familiar disease.
He was worried that HE may be coming down with the same ailment?????
IMMEDIATELY, this Verse came to my heart:

7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Now I fully realize that something/someday SOMETHING is gonna' kill me..................
AMEN!!??
As another good friend once commented on my feeble attempts to exercise and eat right-
“SO, I GUESS YOU GONNA DIE SOMEDAY OF NOTHING!!??”
And, as Country Joe and the Fish famously shouted at Woodstock:
“WHOOPEE, WE ALL GONNA' DIE!!!!”

How well do I remember ANOTHER beloved friend and brother informing me of an impending surgery-a surgery quite common to us men folk and one that I had a lot of experience with.
This man is a VERY quiet and dignified Christian who had NEVER raised his voice to me nor had I ever heard an angry word or complaint from him-never!
As I began to describe all the “WHAT-IFS” and all the problems he MAY encounter from the surgery, SUDDENLY he grew ANGERLY and and told me quite forcibly-SHUT-UP!!!!!
SHUT-UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He then quoted:
Psalm 91:7 (KJV)
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
And quite forcibly informed me in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that “it would not happen to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And guess what-IT DIDN'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He did fine and is still alive and well today on planet Earth!
Proverbs 18:21 (KJV)
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
One final thought on this.
A few years ago I was sitting in a doctor's waiting room awaiting the results of a serious test I had just undergone.
The results would not be given me for a very long “few” minutes and I found myself sick with worry.
My beloved son called me just then-my son in a horrible living condition in prison- and admonished me to QUOTE GOD'S WORD over and over:
Psalm 118:17 (KJV)
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
TODAY, for any who desire to live life, join me in quoting AND believing:
