St Anthony Church Newsletter
Kim Conant from the Prospect Food Bank accepting some of the donations from David Byrne. Thank you to all who contributed our Reverse Soup Supper Food Drive.
In this week's Gospel, Martha draws from the promises of Scripture to seek comfort in her brother’s death. She recalls the promise of the resurrection, her own faith strengthened by her ability to learn from her earlier conversation with Jesus to balance work and faith life. Her words demonstrate she has learned the blessings that come from stepping away from the constant doing, to be with him and listen, since her initial encounter with Christ.

Lord, help me to proclaim like Martha, that I believe you are the Messiah.
In times when answers to my prayers feel delayed, fill my heart with the grace to understand, in the waiting God, your Father, and ours will be glorified.
In all circumstances, may I never forget the goal of everything here on earth is to bring us to everlasting life in heaven.
The 11:15 Mass will continue to be live-streamed for the time being.
Therefore St Anthony Church will broadcast on Facebook LIVE Sundays at 11:15 am.
The video of the Mass will be available on this page of our website after the Mass is complete.

REACHING OUT, HEALING TOGETHER
Volunteers of the Week
Tara and Fred Smith

If you attend the 4:30 PM Mass on Saturdays on a regular basis, then you are in the capable hands of Tara and Fred Smith. Tara is the Sacristan and Fred is the
Usher for that Mass every week. Together they make sure that the church and sanctuary are ready for Mass and assist the Celebrant with any special
requirements he might have.
In addition to her time as Sacristan, Tara is an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. She also organizes the Giving Trees to help families in need and she is the Catechist for our Confirmation students each year.
In addition to his Usher duties on Saturday, Fred is the Leader for the Usher Ministry, coordinating schedules and special assignments.
Both Tara and Fred help to decorate the church for Christmas and Easter and they
both volunteer together at the St. Vincent DePaul shelter and kitchen.
Tara grew up in Prospect and she and Fred were married at St. Anthony’s in 1991.
Since that time they have worked together in several ministries here at the parish.
“Helping out is a wonderful opportunity to serve Christ and our parish”, Tara said
“We have always attended the 4:30 Mass and serving at that Mass and at the
Shelter brings us closer together as a couple”
Thank you Tara and Fred for the time and talents you give to our Church and
parish.
Tuesday morning at 6:45 am and Thursday morning at 8:45 am
  • Please call Barbara if you plan to attend the Tuesday morning class.

CRS RICE BOWL

Lenten Rice Bowl Recipes
Since we are not able to meet for soup suppers this Lent, we would like to share recipes from the Rice Bowl program each week.
We encourage you to make the meal and share photos and thoughts about it. Let us know which recipe was your favorite and we will publish the most liked meal. Please call us or email. We do enjoy hearing from you!
This weeks recipe:
BEAN CAKES RECIPE form BURKINA FASO
1 can black-eyed peas, drained
1 small onion, chopped
2 carrots, peeled and chopped
1 egg, whisked
½ t salt
½ t black pepper
1 c flour
¼ c vegetable oil
Place black-eyed peas in a blender with the onion, carrots and egg. Blend to a smooth paste and add salt and pepper. If bean mixture has too much liquid to form cakes, add flour, ¼ cup at a time to thicken until you can form into cakes. Divide into 6 to 8 portions and place in hot vegetable oil. Flatten each one into a disc using a spatula. Fry until browned (about 5 to 7 minutes), turning occasionally. Serve with rice. Makes 6–8 Bean Cakes
