Happy (almost) Labor Day Weekend!

The holiday weekend is in sight, and I am guessing you are thinking and planning all kinds of things that are NOT Chamber related!? So, this week's e-blast is short and sweet....

We have three pretty important events coming up this fall and as you are getting back into the "school year" groove we would love for you to get them on your calendar.

Bowling for Education and Fall Gala are legacy events that both include fun, food and FUNdraising for very good causes. The Women's Symposium & Expo, now in it's third year, is a great way to fill your bucket and check some items off the holiday shopping list at companies you may not come across every day.

We have had a great summer of fun and we are ready to jump back into a fall season full of relationships, enrichment, and purpose.

Have a safe and happy holiday weekend. Good luck to those getting kiddos off to school and we will see you next month!

September 19

Two hours of food, bowling, prizes, and FUNdraising! The proceeds from the bowling tournament support our work in education and workforce development – teacher appreciation breakfasts, new teacher welcome bags, impact education grants, event participation, and more.

October 6

Yes, we talk about it a lot, but the Fall Gala is very important to us for two reasons – (1) it is our premier social event of the year with over 200 members joining in our themed entertainment and social activities and (2) this is our largest fundraiser of the year.

This allows us to do all of the impactful work we talk about throughout the year – advocacy and access, introductions and involvement, marketing and awareness, and workforce development. Without signature events like this, those initiatives are not possible.

You do not want to miss this year – live band, food throughout the evening that includes a dessert bar and late night pizzas, tours of the brand new hangar at Airlake, games, fire tables on the patio…what better way to spend a fall Friday evening!

November 14

Motivational Speakers, Sampling, Shopping, Prizes, 2023 Businesswoman of the Year, and so much more! Bring your colleagues, bring a friend, bring your mom!

THE GREAT MINNESOTA GET-TOGETHER

The Minnesota State Fair is one of the largest and best-attended expositions in the world. Showcasing Minnesota's finest agriculture, art and industry, the Great Minnesota Get-Together is 12 Days of Fun Ending Labor Day. The 2023 Minnesota State Fair runs August 24 thru Labor Day, September 4. Photo of the West End Market, a neighborhood offering music and comedy performances on the Schell's Stage at Schilling Amphitheater, food and merchandise vendors, artisans and crafters, and the State Fair History & Heritage Center.

The State Fair Parade includes floats, royalty, the High School Marching Band Competition, special guests and more happening every day at 2 p.m.

The Leinie Lodge Bandshell is one of many free entertainment stages on the fairgrounds offering more than 900 live performances.

Thank you to College City Beverage, Inc. for bringing the Clydesdales to Downtown Lakeville - Holyoke Avenue on Thursday September 7.

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Each of the Clydesdales’ handcrafted harnesses and collars weigh approximately 130 pounds.
  • The Budweiser Clydesdales are given short names, such as Duke, Mark and Bud, to make it easier for the driver to give commands to the horses during a performance.
  • Budweiser Clydesdales’ horseshoes measure more than 20 inches from end to end and weigh about 5 pounds.
  • Dalmatians were known as coach dogs because they ran between the wheels of coaches or carriages and were companions to the horses. Since the 1950s, Dalmatians have traveled with the Budweiser Clydesdales hitch, perched atop the wagon proudly seated next to the driver.
  • The turn-of-the-century beer wagons have been meticulously restored and are kept in excellent condition. The wagons are equipped with two braking systems: a hydraulic pedal device that slows the vehicle for turns and downhill descents, and a hand-brake that locks the rear wheels when the wagon is at a halt.
