In selecting NAA’s Next Generation of Afterschool Leaders 2020, the National AfterSchool Association sought to highlight emerging leaders who are making contributions that influence programs and organizations, and have the potential for long-term and broad impact on the afterschool field—who are active in the broader afterschool community; demonstrate the NAA Core Competencies; and possess passion for the profession and for their work as an emerging leader, have a clear purpose in their efforts to support others, and show determination to grow as a leader in the field of afterschool.
Now Accepting Registration for Prime Time's STEAM Initiative

Prime Time is now recruiting afterschool programs to participate in its  STEAM Initiative , which includes series-based training, observation on coaching to improve practice, participation in the STEMExplore program, family fun nights and much more! 
Miss America is a Scientist!
Last month, Miss Virginia Camille Schrier donned a white lab coat for the talent portion of Miss America. She wowed the judges with a live chemistry experiment demonstrating the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide with potassium iodide, better known to most as elephant toothpaste. Watch this video to see the demonstration and hear what she had to say about the importance of science.

Obtain your 40-Hour School Age Certification!
The 40-Hour School Age Certification will prepare you to work with children and youth 5 years old and up in a licensed afterschool program. This certification will give you education on best practices and help you to become more marketable in the out-of-school time field.
Upcoming Classes – Spring 2020:

HEV0803 Part I: School-Age Program Certification

Part I includes topics covering local rules and regulations; identifying and reporting child abuse and neglect; health, safety and nutrition; and school-age appropriate practices.

Classes : Mondays and Wednesdays from February 3, 2020 to February 26,2020
6:30 p.m. -10:00 p.m. in Lake Worth

HEV0804 Part II: Foundations of Advancing Youth Development (AYD) Principles

Part II will introduce the participant to a specialized school-age curriculum focused on the stages of development for children ages five years old and up.

Classes: Mondays and Wednesday from March 16, 2020 to March 25, 2020
6:30 p.m. -9:30 p.m. in Lake Worth
Exam: March 30, 2020 from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
The classes for the certification are held at Palm Beach State College. Prime Time can provide scholarships that cover the class cost and the book so submit your application by clicking here

Submit your application by February 15. 
*Do not submit an application if you were awarded an ACHIEVE OST incentive in December.
Financial incentives for practitioners actively participating in the Palm Beach County Quality Improvement System are available through the Prime Time ACHIEVE Out-of-School Time (OST) incentive award program. Supplements range from $50 to $3,000 depending on the training and education obtained. ACHIEVE OST is designed to increase afterschool program stability and improve program quality by reducing staff turnover and encouraging afterschool practitioners to continue their training and education.

Prime Time Palm Beach County is Hiring
Prime Time Palm Beach County is currently seeking a trainer to join the Professional Development Team to deliver Prime Time's professional development trainings and other learning initiatives.

The trainer will be responsible for delivering existing positive youth development training and designing new training offerings that will equip OST practitioners to boost their workplace performance and develop their knowledge and skills. The trainer will be responsible for conducting training needs assessments and
managing all phases of training interventions.
