NEW: IAFP Procedure Training Clinic

IAFP is pleased to host our first procedure clinic training. Come Join us for this FREE training!

When: August 6, 2024

Where: West 48, West Des Moines, Iowa

Time: 2:00-4:00 PM

Nexplanon Training

All health care providers performing insertions and/or removals of NEXPLANON should receive instructions and training prior to inserting or removing the implant.

To ensure that health care providers receive instructions and training on insertion and removal, Organon has developed the Clinical Training Program (CTP) for NEXPLANON. Only those clinicians who have completed the training program are eligible to order the product. This session, which is sponsored by Organon, is not accredited for continuing education credit. A completion certificate will be provided by Organon following the training.

This training is a two-hour program, the first hour is a didactic overview of the prescribing information, the second hour is a hands on practice opportunity. You will receive a kit with a mannequin arm, 5 placebos devices, and removal equipment to practice each skill.

Health Care Professional Truth and Transparency in Advertising Survey

As medical practices evolve, it is not uncommon for patients to receive care from advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and medical therapists, among many others, in addition to physicians. The formal titles of these health care providers and their manner of introduction to patients may lead to increased patient confusion concerning their medical care. A coalition of medical organizations in Iowa, including the Iowa Academy of Family Physicians, Polk County Medical Society, and others, believe that patients deserve to know who is providing their care and what these providers are licensed to diagnose, prescribe, and treat.

In our work towards improved patient safety, we look to evaluate the scope of the problem. Please help us by completing this short 3 question survey.
