IAFR Training - San Diego - January 2024

Our next "Foundations of Refugee Ministry" training is planned for San Diego, California, January 20 + 22-24, 2024.

The goal of our training is to prepare Christians for fruitful and sustainable ministry among forcibly displaced people. After establishing a foundation of common language and the difficult reality faced by people who have fled their homes, we'll examine the following topics:

  • What the Bible Says about Forcibly Displaced People
  • IAFR's Continuum of Response
  • Recovery and Integration Ministries
  • Working in Humanitarian Space
  • Faithful Christian Witness: When Evangelism Meets Aid
  • Staying Healthy for the Long-Term in Refugee Ministry
  • And more...

All of these conversations are focused on principles and best practices of refugee ministry, allowing you to apply them as needed in your context. Our training is highly interactive and designed to ensure high-quality conversation among participants.

This training will be hosted by Bridge Builders Network in El Cajon.

In order to accommodate local participants, we have modified our typical schedule to allow for three registration choices including a Saturday only or Saturday plus weekday evenings choice for commuters.

Participants in the full Foundations of Refugee Ministry training will have a day of introductory sessions on Saturday, January 20, followed by daytime and evening sessions with an afternoon break each day January 22-24. See the registration page for more details, and email us with any questions!

Out of town participants will need to arrange for their own overnight accommodations. This Courtyard Marriott hotel is a short walk away from the venue.

Who do you know who should be there? Help us spread the word!

At IAFR we believe God is calling the Church to engage in life-giving ways along the Refugee Highway and to do so with integrity and with an openness to learn. Our ministry must reflect the reality that God sees, hears, and cares about what is happening to each of the more than 100 million precious people who have been forced to flee their homes by violence and persecution.
