President's Corner:
A Message From Dr. Gabriele Millesi
Dear IAOMS Members & Esteemed Friends,

We are moving into the final quarter of my presidency and the dominant topic still shadowing any international activity is the global COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, we are learning the Greek alphabet, and Delta will not be the final letter. We have cautiously learned to live with this new normality and the vaccines have certainly brought a huge jump forward. However, until everyone is vaccinated on an international level, there will be backstrokes.

Once we are able to return to in-person meetings, the 25th ICOMS in Vancouver in 2023 will be an ecstatic come together of our big community. IAOMS has already started planning and we are longing for a wonderful reunion of the IAOMS family and OMFS community.

I am also looking forward to our next joint venture with the Asian AOMS. Coming up very soon is the IAOMS/Asian AOMS NextGen Online Conference taking place October 26 - October 30, 2021. This is a wonderful opportunity for young surgeons to learn from their peers as well as master surgeons. It is also important to take advantage of the opportunity to submit abstracts. For this conference, abstracts will be collected for publication in an on-line supplement of the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (IJOMS). The Primary Author of the top three abstracts for each theme will be invited to give an oral presentation at ICOMS 2023 Vancouver and the ACOMS meeting in Korea. So please have a look at our website and take the chance! The deadline to submit is September 1, 2021.

As we look ahead, I hope you join us for the IAOMS Scientific Webinar Series sponsored by KLS Martin in celebration of their 125th Anniversary. This series will consist of five webinars taking place from August through December. Additionally, I encourage you to take a moment to view our growing catalog of eLearning programs available on-demand 24/7 via www.iaoms.org. IAOMS is here to support you.

With my warmest wishes,

Dr. Gabriele Millesi
IAOMS President
