IAPAC Responds to COVID-19 and HIV
HIV-treating clinicians have questions about the novel coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 and how COVID-19 may affect the lives of people living with and affected by HIV. IAPAC has developed an online "
COVID-19 and HIV" resource repository that we encourage our clinician-members to access for the latest evidence-based guidance and information.
|
|
IAPAC is also leveraging the
Fast-Track Cities dashboards to visualize city-level COVID-19 data, including confirmed cases, deaths, and recoveries. The dashboards' city maps
are being updated to visualize these data and provide information about access to urgent care, where available.
IAPAC is also developing a series of training webinars about COVID-19 and HIV to support clinicians and community leaders in disseminating best practices amidst this new global pandemic. In addition, we are fielding a 10-question survey to gauge the effect(s) that COVID-19 responses may be having on continuity of HIV services in local communities. If you are an HIV-treating clinician, please
click here to take the online survey.

Adherence 2020
Postponed to November 2020
|
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic,
Adherence 2020 (the 15th International Conference on HIV Treatment and Prevention Adherence) has been postponed to November 1-4, 2020. The venue will remain the Loews Portofino Bay Hotel in Orlando, FL. For delegates already registered for
Adherence 2020, there is no action required on your part to transfer your registration from the original to the new conference dates.
|
Because people living with chronic medical conditions such as HIV may have a higher risk of COVID-19 complications, IAPAC will also host a
virtual
Adherence 2020
pre-conference starting at 12:00 pm EDT on May 6, 2020. Focused on the “Continuity of HIV Care in the Presence of COVID-19,” the pre-conference will be moderated by IAPAC President/CEO Dr. Jos

JOIN US IN LISBON FOR
FAST-TRACK CITIES 2020
|
The
Fast-Track Cities
2020 conference will take place September 7-10, 2020, in Lisbon, Portugal. At a press conference held earlier this year, Lisbon Mayor Fernando Medina announced this year's conference will feature a high-level panel to discuss how harm reduction policies have led to significant decreases in new HIV infections among people who inject drugs in Portugal.
Although there are no current plans to cancel or and/or transition the conference to a “virtual” format, IAPAC is closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation. In the unlikely event a cancellation or format change is required, IAPAC will communicate its decision in a timely manner prior to the conference’s start date, as well as a policy regarding the refund of registration fees in the event of cancellation versus a format change.

IAPAC Develops U=U e-Course for Clinicians
|
|
IAPAC has
developed a new online e-course focused on how to integrate the U=U ("Undetectable Equals Untransmittable") message into clinical practice. The three-module e-course is designed to help clinicians communicate the science of U=U in a practical way to people living with HIV.
Accredited for CME and CE credits by George Washington University, the e-course incorporates scientific evidence supporting U=U alongside testimonials from people living with HIV about the impact that learning about U=U has had on their lives. The e-course was developed in collaboration with the Prevention Access Campaign and was supported through grants from Janssen Therapeutics, Merck & Co., and ViiV Healthcare.
