IASWECE Newsletter
July 2020
Dear friends and colleagues,

We recently sent you a fundraising appeal, asking you to support Waldorf kindergartens which have come into huge financial difficulties because of the pandemic. We want to express our gratitude to all those who sent donations, which we have transferred to the Freunde der Erziehungskunst (Friends of Waldorf Education), the organization that is overseeing this collaborative fund. However, the growing needs are much greater than the donated funds, so if you have not yet donated and could make a donation, this would be a great help. You can find the appeal and new information about this campaign below.

For decades the Steiner/Waldorf Early Childhood movement has been active worldwide for brotherhood and respect for religious and cultural diversity. The founding of this association as an International Early Childhood Association in 1969 was motivated by the conviction that each individual human being is a unique and essential part of humanity. Each of us on this earth needs attention, respect and love in order to develop, most especially the young child, as well as those who are vulnerable and victims of social injustice. You can read further thoughts on this in Clara Aerts' article "Humanity as a Rainbow Project" and "Impressions about Waldorf Education in South Africa" by Mary-G. Häuptle.

Warm wishes on behalf of the IASWECE coordinating group

2019 Annual Report

The Corona pandemic affects us all in different ways, but for some it has become a matter of survival or shutting down. In many places all over the world Waldorf Kindergartens are working without any state subsidies and only can function further through additional donations from parents and educators. The current Corona Pandemic has led some of them into an existential crisis through which they are now threatened with closure.

IASWECE is participating with the Friends of Waldorf Education and other partners in an emergency fund to ensure their survival. Help us to help these kindergartens by donating!
