IATDMCT Podcast: Eight Drugs a Week, Episode 10 – Machine learning and AI for individualised therapy: Now and then

PodcastThere was a time when we performed laborious pharmacokinetic hand calculations to tailor drug dosages and regimens – a practice that can still be useful for those brave enough to perform logarithmic calculator manipulations. Although we are fortunate to have an increasing number of software tools to help us with such tasks today, tomorrow, our work will undoubtedly be supported by artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches, which we have already started to see applied in the research arena. Our guests for the episode are modelling experts, and well known IATDMDCT members, Prof Michael Neely and Prof Jean-Baptiste Woillard.

Dr. Lieber has been a clinical investigator, physician and passionate academic teacher. The symposium will address the following: mechanisms and biomarkers of alcohol-induced damage to different organs, as well as the role of other substances of misuse in this dialogue. Participants will learn about the relationship between alcohol intake in several chronic diseases, in the presence or absence of COVID-19 and other viruses, as well as, the interactions of alcohol with medications and drugs of misuse. Conversely, participants will also learn about alcohol consumption on metabolic diseases. Please contact Manuela Neuman for details. Please contact Manuela Neuman for details.
