Greetings Tubman Families and Friends,

At Tubman, we closed out Quarter 1 last week, celebrated Unity Day, and had a wonderful victory from our Bulldogs Volleyball team who have advanced to the playoffs. Thanks to FOT for sponsoring our Fall Festival. (Click here for photos)

Parents/Caregivers will have an opportunity to discuss Quarter 1 grades and progress at Parent Teacher Conference Day on November 21, 2022, where teachers will have in-person or virtual conferences.

NEW: Middle School Families: We will be adjusting the intervention/enrichment block in the Specials rotation to ensure students receive targeted intervention outside of the Specials schedule. Please read this letter for more information.

NEW: School Tours for Prospective Families

Please help grow our school community and encourage prospective families to attend our in-person monthly tours. More information is located here. At this time, our schools are limited to prospective families. Current families will have the opportunity to visit during report card pickup.

REMINDER: Parents/Caregivers will need Level II Volunteer status to help with classroom parties and activities. Please review Tubman Volunteer Handbook to familiarize yourself with our policy and protocols.

REMINDER: CPS Nutrition Support Services is excited to offer MealViewer starting school year 2022-23! This online menu service provides a quick and easy way to view our school’s daily menus. Also, here's the October breakfast and lunch menu.

MealViewer provides:

Convenience - Available 24/7 on the web or through our mobile app for your smartphone.
Safety – Create profiles for your students and select their allergens. Get alerts each time that allergen is on the menu!
Fun Feedback – Let students favorite and rate certain meals so that we ensure we are serving meals they enjoy!

REMINDER: Tubman Performance Flyer and Media Consent Release

Media Consent and Release Form:

If you have not yet done so, please sign and return the CPS media consent and release form (English or Spanish) to your child’s homeroom teacher. Student media will be used to highlight Tubman's special events with the community on our school website, community blast, and our social media page.

REMINDER: Fall Festival Celebrations - October 31, 2022

Tubman is a community where we are creating an inclusive environment. In keeping with this vision and goal in mind, ALL classes will have Fall Festival Celebrations. Students may put on costumes after arrival to school (or wear under their clothes), and can pass out wrapped items (candy, popcorn, etc.) if they wish. All costumes are expected to align with stipulations in the code of conduct and/or dress code. If students do not celebrate Halloween, they are welcome to participate in all the celebrations because they are fall themed and they can dress as their favorite book character or in their favorite color if they wish. Students will engage in fall theme related activities during the celebration including art, games, and STEM activities.

Please be mindful of the fact that there are students with severe nut allergies in some classrooms. Please encourage students not to bring any treats containing nuts to ensure the health and safety of all.

UPDATE: MathematiGals 22-23

What: High school students will lead fun, challenging, and collaborative lessons for 3rd and 4th grade girls to inspire and empower them in mathematics.

Where/When: Online sessions on Google Meet Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm. 10 weeks total (November 10th*, 15th, 29th, December 6th, 13th, January 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, and February 7th.

*Thursday for first week, because of Election Day on 11/8
